August 16, 2020 Finished MVP

It took 4 months, but I'm finally done building the minimum viable product for Stonksfolio. I worked mostly nights and weekends, and I coded the whole thing in Ruby on Rails since that's that I'm the most comfortable with. In hindsight, there were a few features I built that probably could've waited until later. But I'm excited to start talking to customers and see what they think about the product so far!

Hey Georgi, congrats on the build and launch of your product! It looks very clean so great job. I was wondering how something like this differs from a normal brokerage portfolio view?

Hey! It's different because it allows combining portfolios from different brokers. For instance a lot of people have a trading account somewhere and a 401k account in a different place.
Apart from that, we're also adding a lot of tools that are not available in brokerage sites, such as contribution calculator, portfolio simulations and probably many others :)

April 12, 2020 Came up with my idea

I've read so many times that you should solve your own problem, and so a couple of months ago I sat down to think about all the problems in my life.

It turned out that I had quite a few problems worth solving, and the most interesting one led me to the idea for Stonksfolio!

About

I got tired of using spreadsheets to track my portfolios so I created Stonksfolio to solve my problem. Apart from the usual goodies, it has some nice features that help passive investors with monthly contributions.
