StripeRecover
Recover the 30% of Stripe churn that's just expired cards
Stripe's default dunning gives up after 4 generic retries. ~30% of SaaS churn is involuntary — expired cards, address mismatches, network errors. The customers wanted to pay. They just didn't get a second chance that didn't sound like a robot.
I run 8+ SaaS at Munda LLC and was eating ~$400/mo in failed payments across all of them. Built StripeRecover for myself, then packaged it.
What it does:
- OAuth your Stripe account (Stripe Connect, not API keys)
- Listen for invoice.payment_failed
- Smart retry day 3 / 5 / 7 (timing matters more than aggression)
- Branded recovery emails sent from your domain via Resend
- Dashboard showing recovered $, recovery rate, churn saved
Stack: FastAPI + SQLite + APScheduler running on a Mac Mini behind a Cloudflare tunnel. Landing on Vercel free tier. Total infra cost: $0.
Pricing: $99 / $299 / $499 per month, 14-day free trial, no card required.
Honest tradeoffs:
- Not for >$1M ARR — Churnkey + Stunning own that segment
- Zero ML on retry timing — just smart cadence + good copy
- Single Stripe account on Starter tier
What I'd love feedback on:
1. Is the day 3/5/7 cadence aggressive enough for B2C, too soft for B2B?
2. Anyone using Churnkey willing to A/B against this for a month?
3. Should Slack-failure alerts default-on or stay Growth-tier?
