10,000 downloads in 24 hours

Yesterday, the premium version of my app Strongify went free. I'm not a marketer so I was a bit apprehensive about posting it on Reddit, Twitter, Product Hunt, etc. However, what happened next went beyond all my expectations:

  • More than 10 000 downloads in 24 hours
  • Hundreds of positive feedback
  • Lots of 5 stars reviews on the App Store

Thank you all for spreading the word and using Strongify. It's amazing to see your app used in so many different countries. I'm looking forward to publishing even more updates 💪

10k downloads just by posting it to Reddit, Twitter and Product Hunt? Impressive!
I'm going to release my own iOS/Android app and this gives me big hopes 🚀

I think several factors contributed to this:

      • I noticed gyms were reopening worldwide so it was the right time to promote the free IAP.
      • I targeted relevant Reddit groups and answered every comment on them.
      • I forgot to mention, but I also contacted different "apps gone free" kinds of websites.
      • Random people and websites also shared the offer with their audience.

This was the first time for me to expose myself and my product to so many people. I'm really happy how things turned out (even though my PH launch didn't wasn't that successful). I wish you good luck with your future launch!

The "apps gone free" promotion sounds like a great way for an app to get a visibility boost as well as downloads/ratings. Thanks for the tip!

        Awesome, thanks for insight!
It makes sense, you hit right audience at the right time. Mine will be probably around Christmas 😅

If not an issue, can you share those "apps gone free" websites? 🙏

              Didn't know about them. Thanks!

    Great result, congrats!
I wonder now, how you are going to make money on it if it's free?

Thank you! My main goal here was not to make money but to make the app known to the public. I will first focus on the existing users and their most requested features.

That's awesome news. The app looks beautiful too so well deserved!

That’s awesome! If you don’t mind me asking, what stack did you use to build Strongify? Did you use Swift or a cross-platform library like RN or Flutter?
