Student Trove
The academic planner built for students
After writing my exams last year, I started looking for a student productivity app to help me improve my future studies. Nothing really stuck. Apps were either too simplistic or locked the useful features behind expensive paywalls, not ideal when you're a student on a budget. I decided to put my free time to good use before heading back to uni and started building Student Trove - Study Planner.
After most of the coding was done, I reached out to my peers at uni and friends to test it and give feedback. It was a humbling experience that taught me a lot about what students actually want. I found out how easy it is to have useful features that users struggle to find. I'm still improving the UI and figuring out how to get users to report issues rather than just quietly leaving, but I think I've made real progress.
The non-technical side of making an app was harder than I expected. Setting up payment gateways, building a website, handling business registration documents, keeping clean financial records, and navigating Google's app publishing system was not straightforward. It's been a steep but valuable learning curve.
Student Trove is now live on Android and the web. I genuinely believe most students would get more value from it than the overpriced, feature-light alternatives out there, and I'm here on Indie Hackers to connect with people who've been through similar journeys and to keep growing.
About
As a university student, I couldn't find any student productivity app that was both feature-rich and affordable. I decided to build one with a student-first mindset, keeping free features powerful and pricing accessible.
