Sturdy
Real-time code collaboration
We have some really exciting news to share — Sturdy is now open-source! 💻 As developers, we love OSS, so to say that we are thrilled about this announcement would be an understatement! 🚀
Go ahead and star us on GitHub - https://github.com/sturdy-dev/sturdy!
I have also prepared a more detailed post describing how we make it possible to build Sturdy using Sturdy and still have the ability to take community contributions —

Desktop Apps provide a much, much better user experience than web apps.
The app makes it incredibly easy to manage your connected computers and to connect new ones. The best part is providing a consistent experience, between collaborating and trying the code locally.

In Git, (read) access is granted on a repository level — it is, after all, distributed version control.
Now Sturdy has the flexibility of managing access with the granularity of files/folders. For example, if you can invite consultants to collaborate on only a part of your codebase.

Sturdy now plays nicely with Git and GitHub! It's always been important for us to build with compatibility in mind, and now it is possible to use Sturdy and GitHub side by side.
In addition, Sturdy now has support for large files and huge codebases! Thanks to some heavy work behind the scenes using large assets such as images or binary files with Sturdy is now straightforward.

Sturdy is now open for everybody to try out. Making a new version control platform is definitely not for the faint-hearted!
It took us a while to lay the platform foundations but it was well worth it. I would like to take this opportunity to also share some more on the vision we are working towards 🚀 — https://getsturdy.com/blog/2021-08-12-signup-is-open

Demo day is the culmination of every YC batch, where companies present their progress in front of investors. We had just one minute to make our pitch, so a real-life hack I used was my makeshift teleprompter — fdsfdshttps://getsturdy.com/blog/2021-03-24-yc-w21-demo-day

In a couple of weeks we made a prototype, got feedback from users and launched within some development communities that we are part of. Of course we had users try to product before, but for the first time we got to put ourselves out there. Trying hard to make something people want.

About
When coding at work, the collaboration dynamic is different from that of open-source. The biggest difference is the level of alignment, with daily standups and planning together. Sturdy is built for this workflow.
