SubcueAI

Real-Time AI Interview Assistant

July 22, 2026 Why I built an AI assistant that helps DURING the interview, not just prep

Most AI interview tools stop at mock practice. In my own interviews I kept hitting the same thing — I'd know the answer but freeze, or think of the perfect point five minutes too late. So I built SubcueAI to help in the moment: it listens to a live Zoom/Meet/Teams call and surfaces real-time talking points, audio processed on-device, no meeting bot in the call.

It works wherever your interview happens — a native macOS/Windows app for the full setup (dual-channel audio + floating overlay), plus a Chrome/Edge extension and a web tool for mock practice and browser-tab interviews.

Still early — curious how other founders think about this: would you use something like this live, or only for prep? And what would make you actually trust it in a real interview?

I'm curious what made you conclude the problem was confidence during the interview rather than preparation before it.

That feels like a very different assumption about where candidates actually struggle.

About

Interviews are stressful — you freeze, or think of the answer too late. Most tools only do mock practice. SubcueAI adds real-time, private help during the live interview.
