Sunrise Alarm for Smart Lights

Turn your HomeKit lights into a gradual sunrise alarm

April 7, 2026 I built a $4.99 app because every sunrise alarm clock either costs $200 or charges a monthly subscription

I wanted a sunrise alarm clock. The options were a dedicated device like a Hatch for $150-200, or an app that charges monthly for something running entirely on your phone with no server involved. Neither made sense.

I already had HomeKit smart bulbs in my bedroom. Turns out that's all you need.

Sunrise Alarm connects to Apple Home and slowly brightens your lights over 30 minutes before your wake time. No new hardware, no account, no subscription. One-time purchase, $4.99.

It's been live for a few months. I've been growing it through Apple Search Ads and starting to experiment with short-form video and influencer outreach. Happy to talk through any of it — the HomeKit integration, the App Store side, or the growth stuff.

If you have HomeKit bulbs and hate waking up to an alarm, give it a try.

I got tired of waking up to a phone alarm and wanted a sunrise alarm clock, but every dedicated device costs $150-200 and the apps that exist charge a monthly subscription.
