Teaching people how to analyze data in their database
We reached our pre-sale goal within 5 days of launching the landing page and achieved a ~10% conversion rate from unique visitors to paying customers. We are focusing on this initial user base to help build the product and make it great before selling again more broadly. The payment form was replaced with a waiting list instead.
We launched the pre-sale landing page targeted at a niche subset of our target market just over 2 weeks from getting the idea. We made sure there were lots of calls to action and the Stripe payment form was as low-friction as possible. We didn't have many marketing channels so we just asked a friend to share it on social media. We found an influencer's article online that validated the idea so we reached out offering a few free seats in exchange for a post and their post was a big help.

We decided to participate in YC Build Sprint 2020 so we can scope the validation task to 4 weeks and see if it was worth investing any further time to it. We decided to build a pre-sale landing page in the first two weeks then try and hit a pre-sale goal in the second 2 weeks.

We've been working on a few ideas related to data warehouses until now and we discovered the root cause of a lot of the problems we were trying to solve were human errors and if we taught people how to write better SQL queries we could make things better for a company's data warehouse as well as increase the number of people getting value out of the data warehouse.

Marketers, product managers and SEOs ask questions that need to be answered with data. They are currently restricted by simplistic visual tools or waiting in line for a data analyst to write them SQL queries.
