June 19, 2026 I Built an AI-Powered Reconnaissance & Business Intelligence Tool

Over the past few months, I've been working on a project called Surface Brief AI.

The idea came from a simple observation:

When researching a company, information is scattered everywhere.

If you want to understand an organization's digital footprint, you might need to:

  • Search for domains

  • Enumerate subdomains

  • Look up network assets

  • Gather employee information

  • Identify technologies being used

  • Research competitors

  • Compile everything into a report

None of these tasks are particularly difficult, but they are time-consuming.

I wanted to see if I could automate the process and generate a comprehensive intelligence report from a single business name.

What Surface Brief AI Does

The platform automatically gathers and organizes publicly available information, including:

  • Parent Domains

  • Subdomains

  • ASN & Network Intelligence

  • Public Employee Information

  • Business Assets

  • Technology Stack Insights

  • Business & Competitive Intelligence

The goal is to provide a structured report that can be useful for:

  • Security professionals

  • Consultants

  • MSPs

  • Sales teams

  • Researchers

  • Business owners

Technical Challenges

A few interesting problems I encountered:

  1. Combining data from multiple sources into a single coherent report.

  2. Reducing duplicate findings.

  3. Presenting intelligence in a format that's useful rather than overwhelming.

  4. Using AI to summarize findings and generate actionable insights.

One lesson I've learned is that gathering data is often the easy part.

Presenting it in a way that helps people make decisions is much harder.

Current Status

The product is functional and generating reports.

Right now I'm focused on:

  • Improving report quality

  • Expanding intelligence sources

  • Gathering feedback from early users

  • Finding the right pricing model

Looking for Feedback

I'm curious:

If you work in cybersecurity, consulting, sales intelligence, or business research, what information would be most valuable to see in a report like this?

I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or suggestions.

Building in public has been incredibly helpful, and I'm looking forward to seeing where this project goes next.

What stood out to me is that "helping people make decisions" can end up describing several very different jobs at once.

A security professional, a consultant, and a sales team might all look at the same report and leave with completely different ideas about what made it valuable.

The data can stay the same while the decision it's supporting changes entirely.

That's the part I'd be most interested in watching.
