SurveyJS
Custom Open-Source Form Builder for Web Applications
Hi everyone, Andrew here 👋
I'm part of the SurveyJS team, and I am here to connect with other builders working on developer tools.
SurveyJS started because many development teams kept running into the same problem: traditional SaaS form builders weren't designed for complex applications. They're great for collecting leads or running simple surveys, but once you need deep customization, complex logic, or full control over user data, they quickly become limiting.
We created SurveyJS to give engineering teams an effective way to build a custom form management solution directly inside their own web applications. Instead of relying on a hosted form service, teams can integrate our JavaScript libraries into apps built with frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue and keep full control over their data, as well as the look and feel of both the form builder and the forms.
This becomes especially important for companies building products in areas like FinTech, HealthTech, HRTech, and enterprise software, where forms are often part of critical workflows and often involve sensitive or regulated data. In those cases, teams typically need to store data in their own backend, ensure compliance with standards like GDPR or HIPAA, and fully control the UI so the form experience feels native to their product.
Our goal with SurveyJS is to make it possible for developers to build highly customizable, white-label form management platform with complex logic and workflows, without sacrificing flexibility or data ownership, and without having to spend months or even years building and maintaining a custom form solution from scratch.
In short, we built SurveyJS for teams that are building products - not just collecting form submissions - and need a tool that can scale with their application.
I'm looking forward to learning from other founders here and sharing what we've learned while building SurveyJS libraries.
If you're building a product where forms are part of the core workflow, I'd be curious to hear how you approached it.
Thank you.
