October 9, 2020 Launch

In just a few days we were able to add a lot of features to the extension, to fix a lot of bugs. I showed it to some other friends and they asked me for the source code in order to browse craiglist-like websites faster and not having to open hundreds of tabs.

So I decided to post the project on Indiehackers, Reddit, Producthunt and other websites on this date.

October 3, 2020 Project revival

I wanted to participate in hacktoberfest and came across Survol which had been sitting there for an entire year, I asked a friend if he wanted to help me fix the bugs and rebuild it.

We made a list of everything that needed to be changed, the following day I changed the positionning system (the buggy part) opened a few issues with everything that had to be done. We received a lot of contributions from people participating in Hacktobefest which helped a lot.

October 1, 2019 Idea

I got the idea from browsing reddit and seeing tweets posted as links. I was frustrated because I didn't want to click to read them. So I got the idea of previewing links from reddit at first and then expanded it to every websites.

I started Survol in during Hacktoberfest 2019 as I thought it fitted the open-source ideology perfectly. I received some contributions but the project was buggy, I decided to pause it for a year.
