March 25, 2026 I built SwipeWipe because I had 400GB of baby photos and existing photo cleaners felt too risky

When people talk about “storage problems,” it often sounds like a small inconvenience.

For me, it wasn’t.

I’m a mom, and over time my iPhone photo library grew to more than 400GB of baby photos and videos. Even with iCloud, I was still constantly running into storage pressure. But the bigger problem wasn’t just space. It was that I didn’t trust the existing photo cleaning tools.

Most photo cleaners felt too aggressive. They were optimized for deleting as much as possible, as fast as possible. That sounds useful until the photos you’re reviewing are baby moments you can’t recreate. I didn’t want a tool that made me anxious every time I cleaned my library.

That frustration is what led me to build SwipeWipe.

The idea was simple: photo cleanup should feel lighter and safer.

Instead of treating your camera roll like a pile of files, SwipeWipe lets you move through it visually and make small decisions quickly. You can swipe to keep or delete, browse by timeline, and let the app surface similar photos and duplicates so the cleanup process becomes less overwhelming.

The experience I wanted was:

  • fast enough to actually help with storage

  • safe enough that I wouldn’t fear deleting the wrong photo

  • simple enough to use in short sessions, not just once a year when the library becomes unmanageable

I also wanted it to feel more human.

When you scroll through years of baby photos, cleanup isn’t just “cleanup.” It’s also revisiting moments you forgot were there. So I didn’t want the app to feel cold or purely functional. I wanted it to feel like a gentler way to move through your memories while still making space.

SwipeWipe currently supports:

  • swipe-based keep/delete decisions

  • timeline-based browsing

  • duplicate photo detection

  • similar photo detection

  • screenshot cleanup

  • faster review of cluttered photo libraries

I’m still early, and I’m continuing to refine both the product and the website. But this is one of those products that came directly from a real problem in my own life, and that has made the process feel especially meaningful.

If you’ve ever felt like existing photo cleaners are too risky or too mechanical, I’d genuinely love to hear how you currently manage your photo library.

About

I created SwipeWipe as a mom with 400GB of baby photos, even iCloud isn't enough. Regular cleaners risk accidental deletions. This app lets you swipe to keep or delete photos quickly.
