January 14, 2021 First organic customer

Got my first organic customer!

Although the blog they were subscribing didn't work, I was able to fix it within an hour.

It's good to feel that someone was interested enough to sign up and try it out.

Let's hope people keep signing up and want to use Sync to Kindle!

January 9, 2021 Beta Launch

Launched a Beta so that people could start using Sync to Kindle, knowing that it could still fail sometime.

My idea was that it would give me some insight on how customers would use the tool and what blogs I should focus on with regards to conversion to an e-book format.

Got two sign-ups from a couple of friends!

Announced on Reddit, mobileread and Twitter.

December 24, 2020 Launched landing page

Created a small landing page using tailwind.build to create some awareness about Sync to Kindle.

It wasn't very successful, as I only marketed it on Twitter and have a pretty small audience. Although, some friends subscribed and took a look at the website!

December 16, 2020 Started implementation

Started implementation 4 days after having the idea.

Spent some time researching libraries that did what I needed to do: convert blog posts to e-book format. Eventually, found a way to do it.

Built a small proof of concept of a program that would fetch articles from a blog, convert it to a Kindle-readable format and send it to my email.

December 12, 2020 Came up with idea

Came up with the idea while reading the MAKE book.

Wrote it on a Notion page and let it brew for a couple of days.

I kept thinking about it and couldn't find a reason not to build it. It seemed a cool project that could be useful for other people and I could even add some pricing if it would make sense.

About

I wanted to receive blog posts on my Kindle automatically once they are published, so I built a tool that does just that. Now I hope this is useful for other people as well!
