Remove inactive tabs automatically and silently

Visit Website
August 19, 2020 tabby.us is available on all major browsers πŸŽ‰

Being accessible to users where they browse has always been a top priority. Even if most users use Chrome - like us - we totally get it that people prefer other ones.

Fortunately, many browsers work on Chromium so it was easy to get access to Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and Edge. We did the extra mile on Firefox because it was asked a lot.

For developers: Safari has its own rules and you need to pay $100 to access it. Not a priority for us given the fact the product is 100% free. :)

Check our website from any browser, and it should work: www.tabby.us

Happy day to all!

August 17, 2020 100% up-and-running onboarding πŸ‘Œ

The funny thing about tabby is that product success is measured by immersion: the less users see something, the better we deemed the experience is.

tabby's job is to declutter your browser view from unnecessary tabs in order to help you clarify your mind. Many users reported the product was broken because they didn't see it work... πŸ™ƒ so product success or communication failure?

We engaged in 1-1 conversations and designed a 3-minute built-in onboarding process that reassures everyone:

  1. Pin tabby to the chrome bar to see the (very) subtle notification when it works
  2. Pin your most important tabs to protect them from the tool
  3. Find the right browsing mode for you
  4. Restore tabs confidently (all your Amazon reviews, Tripadvisor filters, etc. are kept in place!)

Hopefully, people will like it!

  1. We received some sympathy from super benevolent Redditers. They tested the first round of features and loved our approach: simple, automated, silent.

Result: 3 months after, our first user Paul is still using it, I quote "It has now just incorporated into my online life and I never think about it. I don’t think I’ve had to reopen a tab in at least a week :)"

  1. We focused on building authentic connections with people. That's why we didn't grow as fast as we wanted, but this is also where we take the fun and inspiration. Real people benefit a real augmented experience on their browser, thanks to our simple tool.

Another exemple: an ADHD adult reached out to us saying that it changed her life online completely. Our algorithm made it easy for her to clarify her thoughts and she now claims she makes better decisions on a given day. We wish to work more closely with ADHD communities. If you know some, please reach out.

Overall retention is very strong and that's why the growth is steady. :)

User persona:

  • remote workers or people who work online all day
  • that have a lot of tabs open and who are tired of clicking on tabs (grouping, ordering, removing etc.)
  • that want to reduce their online carbon fooprint (record: 192 tabs removed within 24h, and fewer than 10 tabs restored -> a user sent us a screenshot because we don't collect data)
  • spare their PC RAM automatically

About

I am working on tabby because as a remote worker, I often lost focus on my single screen computer during the pandemic crisis due to too many tabs open; enjoy serenity online: boosted focus and productivity.
