Every role needed a tailored CV. Every role needed a different cover letter. I kept turning to ChatGPT to speed things up, but getting anything good out of it took forever. Endless back and forth, prompting and reprompting, and it still kept inventing experiences I didn't have. Add in the Excel sheets and folders full of half-finished CVs, and I was losing my mind.
With AI tools making it genuinely fast to build for almost no cost, I figured I could take a shot at solving this myself without it taking over my studies. So I did. In a month.
Here's how TailorCV works:
Paste a job description, URL or use the Chrome extension ➡️ AI pulls the details and gives you a fit score against your master resume.
Create an application ➡️ The AI tailors your CV to the job and asks clarifying questions to fill gaps. This eliminates hallucination and makes sure your CV and cover letter only include your actual experience.
Move to tracker ➡️ Follow every stage, schedule interviews, and check your analytics.
I wasn't planning on publishing it. I built it for myself, but I genuinely enjoy using it and figured I probably wasn't the only one dealing with this.
It's still early days, and the product is far from perfect, but it already beats juggling Excel sheets, arguing with ChatGPT, and paying for expensive job search tools that most students can't afford anyway.
Built with Lovable, Gemini API, and Supabase — I know the basics of development, but this was my first time shipping something real.
