Notos
Breath new life into your stories
After more than a year of hard work (and learning React Native!), we've finally released our mobile applications for iOS and Android. 🎉 Just in time for the french summer holidays!
The applications make it more pleasant to use Notos when you're not at home. It is faster and more stable than on a web browser.
If you're curious, you can download them here:
- for iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id1557216650
- for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inteji.notos
Cheers!
As we bought a competitor a few months ago, we took the opportunity to rebrand ourselves. Along with several new features we got ourselves a new design, new name and new domain (notos.co)!
For our French-speaking users, Notos is far easier to pronounce than Talegraph and it’s better for our SEO since Google doesn’t automatically correct it anymore (no, Google, we’re not Telegraph...).
Come and have a look at our brand new website!

A few months ago we got an email from a competitor who wanted to sell his website (travel-diary app). As a solo founder he didn't have the time and the will to maintain it any longer. He didn’t want to just shut it down or sell the users base so he was looking for someone who would continue his work and keep the content online.
After several weeks of discussion we finally agreed on the terms: we would buy the website and adapt our infrastructure so that we could merge all its database into our own.
Now it’s done, we successfully migrated all the users and their content (pictures, albums, accounts, followers,...) on our servers! We don’t have exactly the same features but our users seem to like our modern and easy-to-use interface :)

We rebuilt the interface based on users feedbacks: new design with new chronological presentation, new text blocks, new emojis and more.
We also rewrote almost all the front-end code using React Hooks, CSS-in-JS.
A better product to tell captivating stories with your pictures!

I've been looking at hooks but some places I dont see the need. How are you finding it? A pain or joy?

A joy! It really simplified things in a lot of places. I ended up using hooks for every new component as I never had a moment where I found it worse than components, so better to use the same API everywhere.

Users can now add maps on their albums to show locations they've travelled to.

About
We love photography but never found a proper way to share our pictures with the context they needed. So we decided to create our own tool, a mix of simple galleries and blogs.
