Hire developers on proof, not résumés

Visit Website
July 8, 2026 I got tired of hiring developers on résumés that lie — so I built a fix.

Hey Indie Hackers,

I'm Rahul, founder of Talenser (talenser.com).

I built it because hiring developers is broken. Companies drown in résumés, waste weeks on interviews, and still make wrong hires — while genuinely skilled developers get overlooked because a résumé doesn't show what they can actually do.

So Talenser flips it. Instead of résumés, every developer is verified before a company ever sees them:

- Skill assessments + applied coding tests

- Proctored, structured AI interviews

- GitHub activity analysis

- Identity (KYC) verification

- Real project validation

Companies then browse pre-vetted, scored profiles, shortlist, message, and hire — all from one dashboard. The whole idea: hire on proof, not claims.

We just launched, and I'd genuinely love your honest feedback:

1. Would you trust a candidate's verified skill score over their résumé? Why / why not?

2. If you've hired developers before, what's the one thing that would make you actually try this?

3. Anything about the approach that feels off or hard to trust?

Small launch note: the first 50 companies can claim 90 days of our Starter plan free, right inside the dashboard (no promo code). But mainly I'm here for honest feedback — happy to answer anything.

Thanks for reading.

Honestly, I'd definitely trust a verified score over a resume any day. Resumes are basically creative writing at this point. My only concern would be how you prevent people from gaming the AI interview part. Congrats on the launch!

Thanks a lot — and yeah, "resumes are basically creative writing" is exactly how we see it too.

Gaming the AI interview is the right thing to worry about, and it's something we've put real work into. A few things that help:

      - Proctoring during the interview: we watch signals like tab-switching, face presence, and multiple-person detection, and flag suspicious patterns rather than nitpicking every small movement.

      - Identity is KYC-verified, so a score is always tied to a real, verified person — no anonymous stand-ins taking it for someone else.

      - No single signal decides the outcome. The AI interview is just one layer alongside coding tests, applied skill tests, GitHub analysis, and real projects — so gaming one part doesn't fake the whole profile.

No system is 100% cheat-proof, but stacking these makes it hard (and honestly not worth the effort) to fake. We're also improving it continuously with real-world usage. Really appreciate the congrats and the sharp question!

What stood out to me is that you're not helping people find products—you're helping them trust what they're buying.

That's a much stronger problem to solve. If people start opening your site because they want confidence rather than just search results, you've moved into a very different category than product discovery.

Thank you! That's exactly the mindset behind Talenser. We believe the biggest challenge in hiring isn't finding candidates—it's knowing who you can trust. Our goal is to help companies make confident hiring decisions based on verified skills and real assessments, rather than resumes alone. Really appreciate your perspective!

        Interesting.

Reading your reply made me think less about verified assessments themselves and more about what the product quietly commits itself to once companies begin relying on it to reduce uncertainty instead of simply surface candidates.

I don't think I can explain that line of reasoning properly in a thread without oversimplifying it.

If you're interested, what's the best email to reach you on?

I built Talenser because hiring developers is broken — too many résumés, wasted interviews, wrong hires. On Talenser, every developer is skill-tested, GitHub- and identity-verified, and AI-interviewed before you see them
