Tambola
Play tambola with your friends online from anywhere
We launched Tambola 2.0 on Product Hunt and got 300+ upvotes on the day one! Overall it resulted in 3,000 pageviews.
Here are some lessons I learned:
- Don't wait to launch your product. Launch it and keep working. At least get traction and feedback on how the community is responding to it.
- Submit multiple times if you have to. I submitted the version one a month earlier and the traction was not so much. I implemented all the feedback I got from the first version.
- Don't pay attention to the spammers. Ignore them and try to stick to the users who are enjoying it.
Let's see what's next!!!
From all the feedback we got on the last version. Shout out to our early customers π
It was the time when the whole world was shutting down due to the spread most dangerous virus COVID19. But honestly, this gave us more time to spend on tambola which actually skyrocketed build phase. We want the MVP to hit the market before the lockdown gets over.
And we started with this list of features:
- Automatic number calling (already done in v1)
- Online ticket generator (Major one)
- Add/Edit game rules
- Play in groups
- Claim prizes

As soon as we are back from our family trip. We started building tambola part-time. Our first major milestone was to "create an automatic random number generation tool" which we can host online. This can help everyone play together without the requirement of a manager.
Completed the v1 by 12th Feb 2020 and hosted online. Also posted on Product Hunt. Got no traction and got so much feedback from all our network.
Have a look at this tool - https://tambola.fun/number-generator

It was the new year 2020. I and my brother @saumya04 were enjoying tambola/bingo with family on the mountains of Mukteshwar, India.
We tried to solve the problem.
- Everyone in the family wanted to play tambola but as we all know one person needs to be a manager who can handle the number calling, prizes, etc.
- We searched for apps online to solve this problem.
- Found some apps, but the experience overall was too bad. There was something missing.
- Thought of building one.
