Tandem Deodorant for Kids
A Natural Companion
I was finally able to successfully launch my product. The first week I realize that despite planning and budgeting for this launch, I failed to consider the impact that SEO would have on my success. Additionally, I didn't realize how much work it was going to take to get my website ranked. I assumed keyword rich product website would be enough. This was the week I learned about backlinking, blogging, etc.

I filed Trademark application and began testing my product with friends and friends of family to gather a better perception of how my product would be accepted. Although there was confusion by some of why I created Tandem, many were unaware of the potentially dangerous chemicals lurking in the personal care products. Once I made the connection, they better understood my vision.

This took longer than expected as I wanted to ensure my brand and logo were in sync. I came up with the name Tandem because I thought the concept of the deodorant working in Tandem with its user would create an emotional appeal. Additionally, I wanted the logo to symbolize natural and two items working as one, hence the two leaves and the bigger leaf in the background.

I was able to finalize deodorant formula after various testing phases. It passed stability testing as well as its ability to absorb sweat and odor. The initial test were conducted using me and my kids as subjects to ensure it passed the human test and didn't stain clothing

I took about a year to create and test various formulas. Each testing phase took 30 days, as I had to ensure the formula work and passed stability testing. Since I was using natural ingredients, it was very challenging to create a formula that mimic conventional deodorants without using harmful ingredients.

I decided to create a deodorant for my daughter because I couldn't find a product on the shelf or online that was safe for kids due to the industrial chemicals currently found in deodorants. As a result, I began searching for a natural deodorant that was safe and after testing a few that did not work, I decided to make my own.

I know that parents want the best for their kids. They shouldn’t have to compromise their child’s safety and vulnerability when it comes to personal care products.
