Tanker FileKit

We've just launched FileKit on ProductHunt:

We launched FileKit on Hacker News and it got to the first page!

It took us several attempts to get there, though. Here's what we learned:

• You need a catchy title. If you don't have a catchy title, no-one will
  click the link.

• If you mention encryption in the browser, Hacker News readers will
  complain about the safety of code in the browser in general, and
  Javascript in particular. We gave a
  talk
  to adress those comments,
  and we are writing an article about it for the future.

• Don't hesitate to submit multiple times in the same week if you have to

With the MVP ready and the focus shifted from Core to FileKit, it was time to rethink our messages.

• We updated our documentation

• We published a new pricing model

• We redesigned the Tanker website to put the emphasis on FileKit

First, we split the work into stories and tasks. Then we took time to carefully specify APIs and User Experience.

At this point, the whole developer team worked on putting all the technology pieces together, and boy did we deliver:

We published new Javascript npm packages, deployed a new server, and wrote a complete tutorial.

We were ready for the next step: tell the world about our product.

After 2 years of working on research & development for our technology, a universal end-to-end encryption service called Tanker Core, we've looked for ways to increase adoption and get more traction.

We realized we had an opportunity to help our clients securing their files, so we created FileKit, an end-to-end encrypted cloud storage service.
