Task Nearby

Our app surpassed 10,000 downloads on the Google Play store.

This was never expected considering we've not made any marketing efforts other than the launch posts on Reddit and Product Hunt.

During this time, TBH, we were not focusing much on Task Nearby. We resolved the queries of customers writing to us, but were not actively involved.

[2021/01/30] Going forward, we've set out on improving the app even more as we see unsatisfied customer count increasing. We were unable to make time for this app because of other commitments.

We managed to get more users to try our app by the means of Reddit forums, Product Hunt launch.

The users were excited to try it out and some of them converted to premium users to unlock the paid features. This led to a payout of $112 for the 33 days period.

In the last 2.5 years, over 2000+ users on the Play Store had tried this app. This confirmed that there was a market requirement for this app and users were unhappy with the alternatives that were available. We got positive feedback and feature requests as well from a lot of our customers.

Therefore, on discussing it with my friend and my 'co-founder' for this app, we decided to launch a better version with smoothened out UX and additional features (some of which will be behind a freemium model). We launched this update on India's Republic Day 2018 and got our first paying user!

This was my first time coding something that solves an actual problem. As I had an Android device, I built an Android app to scratch my own itch.

Did not have any thought about building a business or selling it with premium features, so launched it as a free app on Play Store for anyone to use if they want it. Honestly, I was not expecting any usage.

Went for an evening walk in my university campus, came back to my dorm room only to realize that I had again forgotten to buy milk. I wish someone would've reminded me when I was passing by the milk shop. And that's why I thought of building Task Nearby.
