A game-like productivity system like Dungeons & Dragons
Over the last few weeks (minus last week) I've been marketing a game-like productivity system.
Back in May I started using ChatGPT to write A LOT of the text, however, I noticed the brand wasn't "resonating" (getting the expected engagement) with the audience on Reddit even though the idea felt super aligned.
Initially I thought this was caused by subreddit misalignment so I tried posting in different types of subreddits. I used our small Twitter following (like 30 people at the time) to find "types" of people. When diving in I found our organic Twitter audience was made of streamers, game devs, Vtubers, artists, and writers.
On Reddit I went to game dev, art, and streaming Reddits but these didn't do too well. Eventually I noticed that the previously mentioned groups were "productive gamers" so I went to find more productive-type gamers or gamers interested in productivity.
This led to a small bump in reddit upvotes as the subreddits were better aligned however I wanted to start breaking above 10 upvotes so I decided to start taking the handwritten newsletters I've been sending out and turning them into Reddit posts.
This actually ended working out much better as now on our best subreddit we've gotten over 10 upvotes on 2 posts back to back, AND we now better understand the content the subreddit likes relative to our brand's positioning.

Please note that this posting strategy is supported by heavy commenting strategy plus a follow up post strategy where we post brand images in other subreddits to help grow our karma and make sure we're not just sharing links all the time
Our goal now is to begin expanding to other subreddits and understanding the content they like based on our brand's positioning. The goal is get 5-10 subreddits that we can consistently get 10-20 upvotes per post (based on our plausible metrics we believe this will lead to 1,000 website visitors per month when counting our Twitter and Mastadon traffic).
