March 1, 2023 A year into the journey

It's been a year into the indie hacking journey with TaskRobin. From building out the first prototype in 4 hours, to enhancing product capabilities after my first paid user, I am really proud to announce that TaskRobin has over 100 paid users.

Every month, TaskRobin saves thousands of emails to Notion and Airtable to help streamline workflows for businesses, educators, professionals and freelancers. My favourite part of this journey thus far is really about making an impact.

I started this journey full of doubt. Doubts for the idea, for my skillsets and for the market. But I have slowly learnt that as long as you are disciplined and follow a process, results will show.

Coming from a technical background, I am too used to seeing immediate results. If my code works, it works immediately. But growing a business is a way more meandering journey. You need to discipline to be rational and analytical - experiment different approaches and methods. Know what works and what doesn't. And use the 80-20 rule to focus on what works to drive more value.

There are days I feel I am not moving the needle at all. Days when I doubt why do I even continue to put in the effort and follow the processes. But it has always worked out. It took six months to get our SEO efforts off the ground and even longer to build marketing partnerships. But these are the long term investments for your project that you absolutely need to make once you have early market validation.

Have faith. Keep iterating. And you're not alone.

September 7, 2022 200 MRR!

Took a little longer but here we are! We have reached 200 MRR! Another milestone for us. Organic growth and scaling is slowly taking over.

As a solo founder, this is my first project that have surpassed $200 MRR and I am very excited for what's next for TaskRobin.

June 29, 2022 100 MRR club!

Marketing has been the main focus for TaskRobin in the past two months and we have reached $100 MRR!

This is a major milestone for us as we validate our product-market fit.

We have received loads of good feedback and feature requests from our users so we are heading back to the engineering room to push out some new shinning features in the new few weeks!

Good job with reaching the first 100 MRR! Like how your product makes it easier to connect Email with Notion. Can help you get it to 12K ARR in 3 months by nailing user acquisition and marketing, let's connect on Twitter :)

Hey thanks! The best channels that work for us are organic social for our niche. Twitter, Facebook groups and subreddits are great. I have also tried paid advertising, but targeting wasn't specific enough.

March 4, 2022 First paying customer!

With no domain and no marketing pages, I got my first paying customer!

Had to quickly create and setup a Stripe account when I received the commitment over email. And the sale came through in 2 hours time!

https://taskrobin.io/ is now officially profitable!

March 3, 2022 MVP in 4 hours

Hacked together some APIs and released a backend only MVP in just 4 hours. The goal was to get the product with ONE core feature to my waitlistees ASAP while they are still excited about this project.

Opened a public demo to show how we can help to save Emails to Notion with a simple forward and upload all your email attachments.

Received great responses!

March 1, 2022 Came up with the idea

I was recently introduced to Notion.so and I fell in love with it immediately. However, I realised that there is no official support for email integrations and the third party applications are either too hard to setup or doesn't save your email attachments to Notion.

So I started doing customer research on Reddit and Facebook. Made a quick landing page and a waitlist.

About

Save emails to Notion and Airtable cannot be more difficult than the way it is now. There is no official support and the third party integrations are either too hard to setup or don't have enough features.
