Tech Debt
The optimal tech news runtime
In the hard part of projects where I often quit or get demoralized. Initial excitement and possibilities has faded, currently in the slog of no one using and it's a struggle to get people onto the site. Luckily, since this one is a content site, it doesn't require a lot of time to upkeep like so many tech projects before where they'd need constant attention AND not have any users.
Most of our Twitter followers and newsletter subscribers are friends, but there's a couple strangers in there. Everyone starts from just a few people though, nobody starts with 10,000 followers. Just gotta be patient and keep trying things.
Built a super simple MVP to avoid the problem I often run into with over-engineering and getting way too involved in the technical side.
Took that simple MVP, put just enough content on it that it looked like a real website (only finished 2 of the articles, and put 5+ that were just titles with garbage content), then started sharing it with people at work as if I had found it on Reddit or somewhere.
Got really positive responses, even had one person start sharing it with other people in company.

Said we wouldn't work on it unless we could come up with a backlog of 25 decent ideas. Sat down for an hour and had a list of 50+ one-liners which could be used, and decided to explore it. Made a simple MVP in an hour off of a Hugo site template, made sure not to go overboard on the tech like we usually do.

Kept sending one-liners back n forth with friends making fun of the software development/tech world, then we decided to see if we could expand on them and share them with others.
