June 14, 2020 Launched Tendii on Product Hunt

After a lot of feedback and iteration from Tendii's beta, I finally felt ready to launch on Product Hunt. I had Ben Lang, who works at Notion and is a popular hunter, hunt Tendii and things went pretty great. I got some positive feedback in the comments and Tendii ended the day as #3 Product of the Day.

This led to a huge bump in traffic to the landing page and a lot of people signed up for accounts. Even though the PH community isn't my target audience of project managers at small companies, the overall results was a confidence boost and felt like product validation.

The next step is keeping the momentum going and finding people in my target demo to sign up and hopefully become evangelists for Tendii.

April 14, 2020 Signed up first team account

I recently built out the main features for teams, which we plan to monetize per user while individual users remain free. A team owner can invite team members, white-label the meeting room and notes with company logo instead of Tendii's, create shared agendas, and view meeting history of members.

I was lucky to have one of my friends, an early beta tester of the app, introduce me to the PM of his team at Slalom Consulting. He's been enthusiastic about Tendii and I thought he'd be a great fit to try out the team functionality. I did a demo for him, he really liked where it was heading, and signed up as a team owner.

This is a step in the right direction since it helps validate the team functionality for consulting. The next step is to validate it for sales and CRM teams.

March 25, 2020 Reached 50 users

Not a huge number and it took a while to get here, but Tendii now has 50 users signed up. These small milestones are what keep me motivated when traction and positive feedback are hard to come by.

While not many of the 50 use the app regularly, it still shows that the app functionality and marketing were interesting enough for 50 people to sign up. Hopefully, it takes less time for the app to reach 100 and 500 users once functionality is finalized and marketing is ramped up.

March 20, 2020 Product Pivot

Tendii was originally designed to be a tool for in-person meetings with additional functionality for people dialing in remote. Now with the recent Coronavirus pandemic and teams working entirely remote, it made sense to pivot the functionality and marketing to focus on remote meetings.

The app will remain entirely free for the foreseeable future to help teams stay productive and get through this difficult time.

February 3, 2020 Launched Tendii open beta

I posted Tendii to sites like Product Hunt and BetaList with the goal of getting feedback on the MVP. I also reached out to personal connections to manually onboard and demo functionality.

Because the app is meant for the specific use case of office meetings and is not a pure consumer app where the user can see the value right away, getting valuable feedback has been difficult.

However, I'm moving forward every day undeterred! I'm now working on the project full-time.

November 26, 2019 Started development

Instead of working in an office full-time as a product designer, I moved to a part-time contract position so I could spend time developing the MVP for Tendii.

I took the opportunity to travel to Central Europe, splitting my time between sightseeing, contract design, and development. It turned out to be one of the most productive times of my life.

August 1, 2019 Came up with the idea

I just got out of a terrible and unproductive meeting and went out to lunch with a coworker. As we were walking, I asked him, "With all of the software solutions out there, how come meetings are still so bad all the time?"

I did some research and found out the problem of bad meetings is rampant across the country and costing companies billions of dollars. Even though there are a ton of meeting applications, I found none of them to solve the problem adequately.

I came up with some initial concept designs and started getting feedback for Tendii.
