TenReps

Adaptive Strength Training App

August 13, 2026 I'm a personal trainer who built a strength training app with zero AI

Almost every fitness app right now is racing to add "AI coaching." I went the opposite direction.

I'm a certified personal trainer, and by day I lead AI work at a large financial group — so this isn't AI skepticism from the outside. It's exactly why I chose rules over models for TenReps: strength programming is a solved problem in sports science. Progressive overload, volume targets, deload timing — the research tells you what works. What people need isn't a black box guessing at their next workout; it's a transparent engine that applies proven principles to their schedule, equipment, and logged results.

So TenReps runs on a rule-based adaptive engine. Every recommendation is explainable, and the app works fully offline — no account, no tracking, your training data never leaves your phone.

Building it solo alongside the day job. iOS and Android, free to start: tenreps.app

Curious what this community thinks: is "your data never leaves your phone" a differentiator worth marketing in 2026, or do users just not care about privacy in fitness apps?

About

As a personal trainer, I saw people fail not from lack of effort but from not knowing what to do next — TenReps is my rule-based, science-backed answer to that.
