Test Your Mail
Test your HTML email in your inbox
Hey everyone, I finally stop procrastinating and give this a try, so I've built a very basic MVP that scratches my own itch.
THE PROBLEM
I'm an HTML email developer. For those who are not in this industry, HTML emails need to be coded in a very special and old-fashioned way to ensure proper renderability across all email clients.
After you code an email, you need to see how it looks like in your inbox, so you have to send a test to your email.
However, you can't just copy and paste your HTML code into your email client and send it, as when you do this the code will be modified by the email service you are using (especially Outlook), and it will break in weird and unexpected ways when it arrives its destination.
So to send a test, you have do it in raw HTML.
THE SOLUTION
There are lots of tools that do this, but most of them are paid or you have to go through a couple of steps to send each test. I wanted a very quick and simple solution for this, so I can send a test just in seconds without signing up.
That's why I build www.testyourmail.com. You only have to enter an email and paste the HTML code. That's it.
It's a VERY basic MVP, so I'm sure you will find bugs and errors, but at least it does the basic job.
THE FUTURE
As I said, this was built to solve my own problem, so I'm not sure yet how this will evolve (if it ever does). Being part of the target market, my plan is to continue adding features that I as an email developer need. Who knows, maybe this ends up turning in a more advanced product.
My goal at the moment is to get used to shipping things regularly and in very small increments.
OVER TO YOU
If there are other email developers in this community, I would love to hear your feedback and ideas. Feel free to destroy what I did or send me suggestions, I'm here to learn!
(BTW, if you come up with a better name for this that has an available domain, I'm all ears)
