From a picture of your face, we make awesome leggings
The last 3 weeks, I focused on bringing a better face cropping algorithm. I found a model on github for face segmentation in image which works very well for my case. I integrated it with the rest of the code and tadaaa.
Now faces are perfectly cropped out. I'm very happy with the result. In the same time, I managed to reduced the processing time by 20%.
I will communicate on those 2 improvements. Telling about product updates to my customers is a domain where I wanted to improve. It's a good opportunity to start.
I haven't work much during the end of the year. It was difficult to be motivated.
The ad campaign I tried at the beginning of September, indicated me that the ROI of such things is very low. I get some people coming to the site but few conversions. For 75€ invested on facebook, I managed to sell one legging at 25€. Not so bad but I believe, I can do it without ads. In parallel, I had a Adwords but it didn't bring me new customers.
During the last month, I made other sells through friends. So for the year of 2019, I end up with 189€ of sells and 348€ of expenses.
My expenses are :
- Ads 139€ (Adwords + Fb)
- Hosting 87€
- Leggings 76€
- Taxes 22€
- Stripe 3.6€
Closing the year with a result of -159€ 🎉
In 2020, I will get back on the saddle. My first goal is to improve my cropping algorithms. It's very bad and I think it's repel customers from buying. I love the site remove.bg their algo is so smooth. As I want something done in realtime, I can't rely on their service. I think there is small improv, I can bring to reach the level of quality I want.
I know only coding is bad but this is for the best 😜
After some vacations and some bug fixing, I finally deploy the last version of the site. Now the legging designer is right inside the e-commerce page. I simplified the options to have only the face, the size and the color to choose. I specially took care of the mobile rendering, I expect more sales on mobile. I will try to launch a ad campaign on instagram and hope to have orders.
My conversion rate is still very low almost zero. Ads drive some people to the site but one buys. I installed SmartLook to see what's going on. Apparently users get confused between the designer and the e-commerce website. No one is trying to do a legging. Moreover some people go to the legging e-commerce page but do nothing. I must show them the designer right there.

Try to put more effort on landing page and content optimization. I've been doing twik.io for sometime now, it's basically all about matching the content to your ultimate audience and drawing it to your website in a way it could also be translated into sales. I really don't believe that exposure at all costs is the answer - I really believe you have to stress out what's your audience and know what'll make potential clients hop in. Potential clients will get converted at some rate, statistically.
I have been doing a lot of marketing on instagram, liking picture, following influencers. I got some visits but no orders. Festivals season is coming so I want to be prepared to make the word-to-mouth successful, I bought some ads on google search to have a better SEO as the name of the site is just a common name repeated 3 times. Waiting for the orders.

Oh, that's what I've been looking for. I'm also going to organize a techno party and I need to advertise it. I want to call the best techno DJ's but you understand I need a lot of money for it. I good GJ will not come for 500$, of course, not. So, that's why I'm looking for some good advertising that will bring me a big amount of visitors at my party. I send the website to beta test among some friends and acquaintances. After fixing some bugs, I succeed to get my first order, a girl from a festival wanted a legging with her hamster on it. She didn't use the automatic cropping system, but a deal is a deal :)
After setting the e-commerce website using wordpress. I need a editor site where consumer design their legging. Doing in wordpress would be difficult and boring so I did a separate website. A link on the homepage with redirect the user to the designer and once the design is goo d they will be redirect again to the e-commerce site for payment and delivery. Let's see 🤞
All summer, I have been on the festival's road. Always going to the concert dress with my golden shoes, a psychedelic t-shirt, a neon cap and my face printed legging.
This outfit is of outstanding, that people were engaging the conversation all the time to know why I was wearing it and where I got it. With my friend wearing the exact same legging, we were a great duo of seller.
