October 24, 2022 We didn’t choose the niche, the niche chose us.

We know textomap is useful for many cases, but we were surprised at the level of enthusiasm from a specific niche: Education

We created Textomap from our own need: Stop wasting hours adding locations into different mapping tools every time we wanted to learn about places, visualize itineraries, or share travel stories.

We launched on Product Hunt on a Sunday and by the end of the following week, there were dozens of tweets, articles, YouTube videos, and even a Podcast, all from teachers and educators excited about Textomap.

How and why this happened?
Education was definitely a sector we had in mind. We learned that teachers and educators are well connected with each other online, they have their resources and they invest time in sharing and indexing helpful products for teaching and improving curriculums.

We quickly found Textomap appearing on official government and educational institution websites and blogs. The power of educators as a community did the work for us, and we were thrilled to see their excitement about the possibilities Textomap provides.

Did we reach validation or dare we say, Product-Market fit?
The most crucial task for any startup is achieving Product-Market fit.
We see a specific audience in a specific field; sharing, posting and making tutorials about Textomap ( all organically) as a huge sign of a possible fit.
It definitely gave us some validation that Textomap is a product that users find helpful.

Key takeaway
Finding communities that share resources they find useful is key for a product to succeed, and even better if they find you.

What’s next?
We’ll continue to reach out to educators and learn how we can improve Textomap to provide better learning experiences. We’ll also continue focusing on other niches in which Textomap can help and support.

We’ll keep you posted!
Cheers,
Dario from Textomap

How are your tracking? If you can plug n play it could replace all the times use one of the open source map platforms

Hey Catalyst, we're tracking with Analytics the referral and sources where people are coming from. We also search for ourselves on Google and see that we appear in a lot of indexes and resource lists of universities etc. Cheers, Dario from Textomap

July 21, 2022 Where are we after launching our public beta 4 months ago.

We launched Textomap.com on Product Hunt on a Sunday.

Why? Because we knew there will be fewer visitors and we'll have good chances
to be on top ( and we were, we reached #3).
The good thing about Sunday is that people coming on Monday are also interested in what went on during the weekend and if your product is top 5, they will see you.
So we got Sunday, Monday, and even Tuesday votes and exposure.

The launch did a lot more than we thought it would:

  • We were featured in dozens of blogs, websites, and even Podcasts.

  • We were twitted about and retweeted hundreds of times.

  • We got thousands of beta users without spending any funds or even posting
anywhere else or investing any effort in marketing etc.

  • We reached our goal of having 1000 users test our product in 48 hours, something
we originally gave 2-3 months to achieve.

This allowed us to quickly make improvements where we needed to and start working on implementing our pricing plans and payment.

Today we're a few workdays away from finally launching our plans and starting to charge for our services. It's where the real fun begins.

We'll take our summer vacation and come back refreshed and ready to rock! 🚀🚀🚀

Stay posted!

Cheers,
Dario from Textomap
