That's Why
The best Real User Monitoring tool
We launched our beta on November 25th. Here's the tweet: https://twitter.com/thatswhy_app/status/1331500366848987136
We even threw $10 worth of Twitter ads at it to increase our reach a bit since we had 0 following.
The launch went as expected, a few signups. Even less actually implemented our product on their website.
After 1 or 2 weeks we requested a bit of feedback. That is the price you pay for our beta. We barely got any! Almost no one responded to our request. We didn't want to scare them off so we just accepted it and moved on.
During the beta, we improved a lot of the codebase and enhanced our data collection stuff. Now we want to launch That's Why, reach out to companies, get feedback, iterate and improve!
Building MVPs is awesome. We were super excited to start building with Laravel Jetstream. It had just come out, it has team support, InertiaJS preset, profile management. It's incredible and it really gave us a head start.
The most difficult thing was building the data collector. I mean, how are we supposed to collect thousands of data points each day on other peoples websites?
It turned out to be quite complex. Long story short is that we use Cloudflare to cache our collection snippet and we can turn it on or off based on the user's plan usage.
It's now November and we are finally done with the "MVP" (is it an MVP if it took you 2 months to build?).
Let's go to beta!

I sat down with my co-founder Allan and we were looking at the current trends within the web-dev community. We saw that Real User Monitoring was trending! This was really cool because our last product was also focussed on auditing the performance of sites.
We planned out what our USPs would be, how we would build the MVP and what we could do in the future to expand and grow the product.

About
There are a lot of Real User Monitoring tools created by big companies. They collect data and show it in a dashboard. But that's not enough. We collect and display, but also give advice on where to improve your website.
