The Agent Nest
Social Media Marketing for Realtors
Well, I suppose it has been about a year that anything has been updated here. This is Molly, the founder, and I'm going to try to be more active on here now. We increased our MRR by adding a new pricing tier, which offers agents the opportunity to schedule posts directly to their social media platforms.
We will be offering automated posting soon- which means we will post for our agents! My goal is to get to 10K MRR by July. Fingers crossed!
Things have been busy around here, I've been working very hard on Midwest Streams during the pandemic. However, Molly has been crushing it with marketing for The Agent Nest. The biggest thing that we did to increase MRR was offer a free trial. We promoted this free trial by running ads promoting a free month of social media content.
We definitely have an issue with people signing up, downloading all of the content and then abandoning us. However, we feel that this trade-off is worth it as we have been scooping up a ton of clients. With our growth rate we are hoping to hit $5,000 MRR by June.

We have been hitting the marketing hard, and we finally just broke $200MRR. This is a big milestone for us, because it put us in the black! We are spending about $100 a month in software fees, and another $100 on marketing. With the latest customer that signed up we are finally profitable.
Right now it seems slow going, but I have to remind myself that things take time! This is actually the fastest I've reached profitability. With my last two companies it took about 6 months to 1 year to be profitable. To reach the green in just one month is very exciting.
It's definitely true that building companies gets a lot easier after you have done it before.

Shortly after launch Molly created a big social media campaign and reached out to her personal network. This did give the site a little bit of traction. Even though the traffic wasn't huge, we did end up acquiring a few customers.
We were very excited to acquire paying customers on our first day. It's pretty rare to be met with paying customers on day 1, so this is what I'm most proud of in the entire process! I believe we were able to pull this off, because Molly and I have both ran other businesses. We were able to use our previous knowledge to ensure the product was marketable on day one.
Of course we have a long ways to go, and we will always be iterating. But I'm very happy with how our first day went!

After a lot of late nights, we were able to launch about a month after we came up with the idea. It's been a while since I launched something new, so I forgot how much work it is. Luckily I had Molly helping with all the stuff I normally hate. I was grinding hard learning Vue, while also trying to make a production application with a language I've never used before. Molly was also working her tail off, on launch day we had over 500 social media posts that realtors could use.
Of course it was rough around the edges, but all the content was populated and the payment system worked.

After we were sure that we wanted to pursuit the idea we went to work on building. Molly focused all of her time on getting the website, and social media built. I focused on getting the actual product built out.
I ended up deciding to write the entire application in Vue. I originally wanted to do this without any code, so it would be easier to manager. Unfortunately our design was to complex so we needed to write something from scratch. The application was built on the Jamstack, so there was no backend. This was really hard for me as I'm traditionally a C# developer.
We used the following tools to build the application
- ButterCMS - All the graphics are created in ButterCMS, and then retrieved in our app via an API.
- Stripe - Take payments
- Auth0 - Authentication/User Management
- Crisp - Live Chat
- Webflow - Outward facing website
- Netlify - Hosting the Vue application
- Zapier - Tells Auth0 when someone pays, so they can have access to the software

Hi, thanks for sharing your stack this is quite amazing. Regarding the CMS, is it statically generated at build time? So the final page is a HTML page already pre-filled with the cms content? Or is it fetch at run time when the user is on your site? Im trying to tackle pre-rendering now where the content is already on the site at build time, so search engines can pick the content better.
Thanks.!p.s. we use vue too!
My girlfriend Molly runs a marketing agency targeted at realtors. She was searching for a way to make her business more scalable, and decided to turn her services into a productized service. This idea eventually became the foundation for The Agent Nest.
