The Agoge
Musician practice management application
I have, for the first time in my career, early users signed up and ready waiting for my app to be released. While I have not hit my 1000 user goal, I have 5 users sitting in the wings, welcome emails sent out, and they are ready to start using my application. It truly feels amazing to see people interested in something I built.
This comes with no marketing. I dropped a message in my drum class forum and out of 10 views I got 4 signups from there and one sign up from a friend. It's not much but it is momentum!
I released the early registration email form on the landing page of the application. This is the first step forward I have taken to building the application. I also sent out my first feelers to a drummer community that I am apart of to try and get my first batch of beta users on the platform.
I'm still in the midst of development but this milestone is a huge step for getting users on the platform.

I have started the development of the application.
I took some time after building out the specs to really pare down the feature set to the MVP. I have a target of 25 users to get on the MVP and get feedback from some users. Now that I have a base set of specs I have started working on the initial MVP of the app!

After 2 weeks of serious thought and work I finally finished laying out the specs of the MVP for my app. Having a vision for a product is definitely one thing, having that vision fully fleshed out in the details is a completely different level of preparedness that is required for building a product. I have built many unsuccessful applications and the beginning vision is always grand. The problem has always been that I always start developing on a loose vision and never spend the time making it concrete in its concept. This ultimately leads to getting lost in the weeds and either never finishing or completing something that wasn't what I had the vision of.
With this application I wanted to take a different approach and really work conceptualizing the details of the vision so I have a clear road map to follow. This gives me milestones to work towards as well as the ability to know when releases are ready because I have clear targets to each phase as I start this journey.
I've noticed my excitement to build this product is much higher because I now actually have a clear vision to the end product!

I joined an online drumming education community and noticed that one common factor between many of the musicians (and myself) is the lack of truly structured and managed practice time.

Congrats, Justin! To get to 1000 you need to start somewhere and you're right celebrating every step it takes.
