1500 Email Subscribers

I'm happy to report that the Bootstrapped Founder Newsletter has now reached over 1500 subscribers, with only 10 unsubscribed over the last week.

I am still impressed with an opening rate twice the industry average, and barely anyone canceling. It's great to see that my consistent posting on Twitter and here on IndieHackers seems to continuously attract new readers to my weekly half-essay-half-link-list publication.

Here are the stats: 1500 Subs,50,47% open rate, 12,92% click rate.

In one of the next episodes, I will announce the official launch of my book, Zero to Sold. I can't wait to see how many of my readers will engage with the book that has been half a year in the making.

What is the strategy for getting traffic to your website? What is the path to becoming a subscriber?

    1. 1

I talk about the blog on my podcast. I link to my newsletter from the blog.
I tweet my weekly articles out every week and link to the latest issue.
I also share my newsletter subscriber growth here, in an article like this. Since my audience are other founders, it's a perfect fit.

Looks great and I've just signed up.

I'm sure you'd increase your sign up rate 50%+ if you added the newsletter sign up box just below your bio / photo with a great call to action 'Receive Daily Actionable Strategies to...' Make it stand out.

I would have missed it completely had you not have mentioned it here.

      Thanks so much!

Interesting suggestion. Do you mean inside each article? So many bios and photos around :)

I meant on your homepage - just under your intro. If you made it stand out you'd increase your subscribers easily (without it be intrusive)

Thank you, I'll play around with the homepage. I bet I can add something better there.

You keep that quality writing, more will come I'm sure. When there is a chance now, I want to thank you. Gained some great insights. From the last ones, about tribes, it really changed some shitty behaviors of mine that I'm doing online.

And from my perspective of your %12 click rate, I mostly don't click anything after reading your content, it was fulfilling so don't want to mess with it. I just read as a whole including links and stories sections and close without clicking. If there was a way for measuring the user session, The Bootstrapped Founder would have a high rate.

Thank you very much! I am so glad to hear this. I'd rather have someone feel "full" after reading the newsletter than "hungry still."

This sure gives me some perspective. I don't want to taint the newsletter with attempts to monetize it through sponsored content. I'll just keep it as it is, a long story, with a few links that I also found interesting. Might remove the links altogether and just focus on the story.

Lots to think about. Thank you for this amazingly actionable feedback!

Haha, thanks! That was literally me in January. No worries. It's all about keeping it going.
