We started quietly opening up the MVP for initial users. We're running ads on Instagram and Facebook and cold emailing industry representatives to start trying to gain traction. We didn't make a big deal out of it to test messaging and growth channels.

Our contractors in Croatia recently wrapped up the MVP with the initial feature set. They've been great and it took about 5-6 months from concept to completion with a break over the holidays. The MVP is built on Django/Django REST/Vue.js/AWS/Vimeo. We also use Sentry for error tracking.

After writing up the product specs in a word document, I started looking at options for contracting out development. I used to be a developer but now make documentaries and don't have time to do the heavy lifting, so I was looking for a team to build it that I could oversee. To save money, I settled on contracting to an oversees company in Eastern Europe. I found a company called Good Code (http://goodcode.io) from a post on r/startups and reached out to them. They are amazing. I went and worked with them in person and they are super knowledgable, easy to work with, and good people all around.
