The CoinCept

Making Crypto understandable.

Visit Website
July 27, 2021 51 subscribers.

Finally crossed 50 subscribers after 4 months of launching. And there has been only one unsubscriber.

It has been a slow progress so far. Getting decent views on the posts. Around 100 views every week. But the conversion into subscribers is less.

Have come across few suggestions for growing an email list. Most common are lead magnets and giveaways. Not sure if these will retain the subscribers for a longer period.

Hey there. Just a couple of things from me. I believe the following will be useful

    • Put down how many people that you will join in the mailing list. Either be honest (50+ people) or lie a little. I'd personally be honest and say "Join 53 other people who read this every week" and make that automatically update

    • Social Proof. This is huge. Get some people to say why they have signed up. Get their photos if you can. Makes it more real

Hey @ray13, I've got a few case studies that could you might want to replicate to get more conversions:

    1. Use Fomo
-> People will be more likely to subscribe to your mailing list if they have FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) that if they don't, then they'll miss something.

    2. Use Content Upgrade

"For each blog post we put out, we created a premium piece of content that we would give to our readers in exchange for their email address"

    ---

Nevertheless, going slow is not necessarily a bad thing: your 50 subscribers could be really engaged with your newsletter (I am guessing your open rates are above 50-60%?)

Are you intending to monetize your newsletter in the future?

Thank you for sharing the suggestions. I will create a special resource or guide only for subscribers instead of publishing it.

Yes I do plan to monetise it later. Any idea on how many subscribers will be a decent number for any sponsor. The open rate is around 45% and link click 20-25%.

June 17, 2021 1.5 months completed on the new platform

Writing is tough. Writing in a simple way is tougher.

Check out the Library: https://thecoincept.com/library

After writing 8 articles every alternate month, now reduced the frequency to monthly.

The time freed up with the reduced frequency has allowed me to work on a new section.

Struggling with the distribution.
Have to work on SEO. Traffic from google search is almost none (Got 2 visitors from google).

Most of the traffic is from my social media links. This process is quite time consuming. Thinking of hiring a freelancer to look after the distribution.

April 30, 2021 Created a website (No results from Substack SEO)

After some efforts in distributing the content got few more subscribers and ~400 views.

Views were from the posts made on Twitter, Facebook, Indie Hackers.

Out of the 400 views, none were from Google.

So decided to move the content away from Substack into my own website.

Created a minimalist website with a sign up CTA and links to my past articles.

Building websites is something I love and have been doing since quite sometime. Will be improving the current website on how the content performs and based on user Feedback

April 19, 2021 Reached 10 free subscribers

It is a small number. But thinking that 10 random internet strangers are putting their faith into the content means a lot.

As I have just started out with the product, my focus is on creating good articles.

Time spent in creating content: 80%
On distribution: 20%

Distribution channels considered: Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Indie Hackers

Efforts: Twitter > Reddit > Facebook > Indie Hackers
Results: Twitter > Facebook > Indie Hackers > Reddit

0 views from Reddit.

I haven't come across a way to determining the source of email signups. The only thing I can measure now is the views from these platforms.

Will be putting in more time for distribution.

March 13, 2021 Created MVP

After working on for couple of months, finally made the MVP public.

Platform: Substack.

Was confused between Revue and Substack. Almost finalized Revue as it is better than Substack on most parameters. But the lack of SSL was a deal breaker for me.

For MVP my target was to have 3 high quality articles ready with me.
Then completed the hygiene sections such as About Us, Logo and welcome email copy.

Finally Soft launched with 1 article.

P.S:
Took a good amount of time in coming up with the name CoinCept. As CoinCept. com was not available, went ahead with TheCoinCept.com domain.
Many suggest to not give much time thinking about the name. But I am not able to focus on the development of any new project without giving it a good name.
