The Lazy NBA
Everything NBA, straight to your lazy ass.
After the previous never-ending 2019-20 NBA season, I realized that the only way my fellow Lazies could get their NBA fix was from an email every Monday and Thursday. That’s great and all, and that will never change, but what about if you just wanted to hit up the website?
So I did what was needed and beefed up the site by importing every issue into the archive, giving every lazy the ability to choose how they want to stay informed. But the site isn’t just an archive; it’s a home for everything lazy.
A brand new section was also launched named ‘Opinions.’ Opinions give other Lazies the ability to contribute to The Lazy NBA and bring more insights to the game we all love. If they pushed their opinion, they got featured on the website and newsletter.
It's been nearly two years, but The Lazy NBA has continued to grow and reach a milestone of 200 subscribers, or Lazies.
The project is a side hustle, so I don't have too much time to invest in marketing or exposure. I reached this target by building a social presence and being featured on multiple blogs showcasing unique web designs and digital products.

Starting the 2017-18 NBA season, The Lazy NBA has a brand spanking new look and feel.
I wanted to boost the branding and create a new email structure from the analytics and feedback I got from the first season. I could digest this information over the pre-season, and this new look gives the project a more cohesive appearance—a continued approach in building the project.

With 65 emails sent out and built my subscriber list to 141, the 2016-17 NBA season was complete.
In the beginning, the project was thrown together very quickly and launched to understand if people would grab onto the idea. The first Lazy season was a success by growing the subscriber list and continuously improving the content and writing I provided. Looking forward to the future seasons and creating more 'Lazies.'

I always had an interest in basketball from a young age, but when I moved to the United States in 2014, my love for the game grew, and I wanted to contribute to the NBA realm.
The idea sparked when I realized how much basketball was played every week in a season. If you weren’t continuously updating yourself with scores and news, you became disoriented or lost interest.
I wanted to help specific individuals get their NBA fix without scrolling through endless feeds or shuffling through tens of websites each week to stay updated. I decided to do the ‘hard yakka’ myself and help the NBA enthusiast that wouldn’t be afraid to call themselves lazy. That’s how The Lazy NBA was born.
Officially launched the website and sent out the first ‘lazy’ issue to 27 subscribers.
