August 8, 2019 4,000 License Sold and Made $76,000

When I was developing TheSaaS, I never thought it would be able to reach such numbers and become the most popular technology template on Themeforest.

Let's share some numbers:

  • Sales: 4,000 License
  • Revenue: $76,000
  • Earnings: $48,450
  • Avg. Monthly Sales: 146 License
  • Avg. Monthly Earnings: $1,730

Most of sales was directly from Themeforest marketplace, but occasionally I had ads on Facebook, Google, and Twitter.

This is very cool! I was looking for a something like this (and the price is right too!). You'll need to update those sales numbers soon! :)

I have bought your template myself. It's a very solid product, one of the better WP themes I've bought over the years!

Glad to hear that. I'll try to keep it updated for coming years.

      Delighted to hear that.

I saw a few times in Indie Hackers people are linking to their product and once I visit their landing page; wooow; it's my template he/she is using :D That's very nice.

Does the theme also include a plain html (non wordpress) option?

    1. 1

This is actually a HTML template. TheSaaSX is the WordPress version.

    Good work! Congratulations!

Great work. Did you design and code all of this yourself? Or did you hire a designer or coder. I noticed you also did the WordPress theme of the same - hence the curiosity.

    1. 1

Thanks. I did all the work by myself.

Amazing, that's insane skills! Illustrations, Design, HTML/CSS, WordPress/PHP, Javascript. Do you use Adobe Illustrator for illustrations?

        1. 1

Not illustrations. I got the illustrations from freepic.com .

    Great work @hosshams!

Is the 146/month the WordPress theme, HTML template or all versions of theSAAS?

    1. 1

Only the HTML version. All the stats in this post is related to the HTML version only.

    Super Dope! Congrats.

    Hi Hossein, congratulations!

What's the difference between using a theme like yours and a page builder plugin like Elementor? I've heard about Gutenberg but I would like to know more.

PS I tried to send you an email through your website but it doesn't work.

      Hi,

Thanks. There're just different page builders with different functionalities and different design. The blocks we have in TheSaaS doesn't exist on Elementor. Also, Elementor is more focus on ability to configure every element, while TheSaaS is more focused on block-by-block page design. You don't have access to as much customizability as Elementor has, but you can design your pages much faster than Elementor. If you have not tried our page builder, I highly suggest to spend few minutes on http://thetheme.io/thesaasx/try-page-builder . It's Gutenberg with additional features from TheSaaS.

Which contact form you tried? You might send your message using https://do.formito.com/e/11m

    Congrats buddy,

For how long have you listed this on the marketplace?

    1. 1

Thanks. It was released on 30 April 2017.

Nice work man! What's your take on envato and them taking a big chunk of the sales? I have a product on there too. Did you try selling the theme without a 3rd party platform for bigger earnings?

    1. 2

Envato is taking about 35% of my sales. It's a lot, but they have a marketplace with millions of buyers and you don't need to do much of marketing. But some cons are that you don't have access to your customers' email address, they've shifted their focus to Envato Element, there's too much competition right now, and trend is in favor of Wix, Weebly, etc. So if I develop a new template, I won't release it on Themeforest anymore. Actually, I might try to develop a WordPress plugin/theme in future and publish it on my own with yearly subscription model. Probably, it would generate less revenue in compare to releasing on Themeforest, but I like the subscription model and it might generate more revenue in long term.

  14. 1

Wow, that's such an accomplishment. Averaging 146 licenses is insane.

As themeforest also sells contributor's products as part of their unlimited subscription. Can you share as to how do they calculate revenue for licenses sold under unlimited subscription?

    1. 2

Thanks, but seems you're talking about Envato Elements. The license sold directly from Themeforest which doesn't have any subscription model.

      Hi,

I don't think so. If there's not any licensing issue with Webflow, the chance that Themeforest theme reviewers accept your submission is very few. There's a Webflow category of themes https://themeforest.net/category/cms-themes/webflow which you might check the other themes or send this question to Envato staffs which can give you an official answer.

April 30, 2017 Launched the template.

After about a month of development, I decided to release the template and see the result. I wasn't happy with the result yet, but I had to press the launch button. It started with less than 20 pages and mostly they were simple pages, but I never stopped adding more pages and features.
