Master Your YouTube Playlists

August 9, 2025 How Struggling with YouTube Playlists Led Me to Build ThinkTube

As a self-taught coder, I spent countless hours watching YouTube lectures to level up my skills. But one problem kept tripping me up: keeping track of my playlists and completion stats. I’d save dozens of tutorials, only to lose track of what I’d watched, what was next, or how far I’d progressed. On top of that, taking coding-related notes was a nightmare scattered across apps, notebooks, or random text files. I knew there had to be a better way.

That frustration sparked an idea: ThinkTube, a website where users can organize their YouTube playlists, mark videos as watched or unwatched, and track their monthly progress. I wanted a tool that felt intuitive, streamlined, and tailored for learners like me.

The Solution

I started building ThinkTube as a side project. The goal was simple: create a platform where users could:

  • Store Playlists: Import YouTube playlists with a single link.

  • Track Progress: Mark videos as watched or unwatched with one click.

  • Monitor Stats: Visualize monthly progress with charts showing completion rates.

  • Take Notes: Add coding notes (with syntax highlighting) tied to specific videos or playlists.
