threesixfive (365.)
Let nutritionists count your calories.
Howdy, everyone!
I incorporated 365 last December on a whim and left it untouched as work picked up, and it wasn't until this past September that I started chipping away at it again.
Today, I've got a website, bank account, stripe checkout link, and an app available for use in Testflight (internally & externally).
Although I've been using the app myself every day now and love it, I don't have my first customer yet.
To begin, I built a Trello document with ideas to close my first customer, prioritized by estimated time to find & close my first customer, with a secondary sort by estimated cost. As a result, I had the following ideas:
- Hold up a sign advertising free weight loss help throughout LA
- Holding up a sign advertising faster finish times with reduced training near popular running trails near LA & Ventura counties
- Posting brochures throughout LA & Ventura counties
- Cold messaging fitness trainers, gym owners, and/or influencers about white labeling and/or upselling threesixfive
- Posting weight loss videos on Youtube
- Posting tweets targeting founders on Twitter too busy to go to the gym
- Cross-posting weight loss tips/tricks on third-party Facebook groups
- Posting weight loss advice for busy tech employees on Tiktok
- Replying to r/loseweight Reddit posts congratulating and encouraging succesful users/posts
- Posting videos for postpartum mothers looking for baby-safe non-pharmaceutical weight loss approaches on Tiktok
- Sponsoring third-party blog posts for new runners and/or postpartum moms
- Posting to my personal Facebook page
- Creating blog posts for our website
- Posting to our Facebook group
After consulting with a former cofounder of mine, we agreed that sign holding would give me the best chance to meet, qualify, demo, and close on a potential customer in a short period of time, alongside a high volume of impressions for a low cost (FREE).
It will also allow me to user-interview in real-time with all hopes, and see which parts of the app and my pitch they respond well to and don't respond well to.
If you're interested in cheering me on, send me your email and I'll add you to our monthly update list.
I just got back from Target, where I bought 10 different posters + a foam board to A/B test different signs throughout Ventura tomorrow. Wish me luck!
About
Before founding 365 I lost 115lbs and it was the most challenging feat I've ever accomplished. I stopped eating, got depressed, and spent +$300/mo on trainers, software, and gyms Weight loss doesn't need to be miserable

I just checked your website and LOVED the idea.
Few things I think you should do:
Once you feel your site and tool are ready, launch it on Product Hunt for extra exposure.

Good luck with your project. I'm going to follow your progress!
Interesting suggestions, I'll look into Quora marketing and moving our website over.
Appreciate your comment!
Interesting idea - good luck. One thing though - a major cause of obesity isn't only food but drinks - particularly soft drinks - also "empty calories" causing obesity etc. Also your product is significantly underpriced - if you get a CX that sends a dozen food pics day and night over a month to count calories - the review labor for that alone will exceed your end user price - many fold.
Thanks!
We encourage users to track EVERYTHING they eat in a 24-hour period, including drinks. My initial hypothesis for this project was actually "The average American would weigh less if they posted every food and drink they consumed on Instagram"
I appreciate your comments regarding scalability and pricing - I am intentionally underpricing to get our first customer and "do things that don't scale".
We'll see where it goes, and what I end up pricing at :)
Thanks again for commenting!
I see! Well it's an interesting hypothesis. I guess that's one interpretation of "do things that don't scale"! :)
