Tint Calendar
Browser extension to add more colors to google calendar
Title: I launched my first Chrome extension to fix a small Google Calendar frustration
Hey everyone,
I recently launched my first Chrome extension — Tint Calendar.
It started from a very small personal frustration: I use Google Calendar almost every day, but the default color options always felt too limited for visual planning.
I like using colors to separate meetings, deep work, personal tasks, reminders, workouts, and other parts of my day. But after a while, Google Calendar’s built-in color system felt a bit restrictive, especially when I wanted more event colors and better text readability.
So I built Tint Calendar.
It’s a lightweight Chrome extension that adds more event color options and custom text color control directly inside Google Calendar.
The goal was not to build another huge productivity platform. I wanted to make a small tool that improves one specific workflow:
making Google Calendar easier to scan visually.
A few things I learned so far:
Building the extension was only half of the work.
Chrome Web Store discovery is harder than I expected.
SEO matters a lot, because users search for problems, not product names.
Screenshots and positioning are almost as important as the code.
Getting the first users is slow, but also very motivating.
Right now, the product is still early. I published the extension, created a landing page, wrote a guide around Google Calendar colors, posted on Product Hunt, and I’m now experimenting with directories, articles, and community feedback.
I’d love to hear from other indie hackers:
Have you launched a Chrome extension before?
What worked best for getting your first users?
Are directories and SEO worth the effort for small browser extensions?
Any advice for improving positioning or distribution?

About
I’m working on Tint Calendar because I use Google Calendar almost every day and always felt that its color customization was more limited than it should be.
