I'm Christian, a full-stack developer based in Geneva. I've been building ToBill with a co-founder for the past while, and I wanted to share it here.
What it is
ToBill is a Swiss-native invoicing app for freelancers and small businesses. It generates compliant QR-bills (the mandatory Swiss payment format), handles MWST (Swiss VAT), tracks payments, and exports to local fiduciaries. Trilingual: English, French, German.
Why I built it
I'm a freelancer myself, and I was spending way too much time on invoicing — generating QR-bills manually, tracking VAT, chasing late payments. The existing Swiss tools are solid but built for established SMEs with accountants on staff. International tools (FreshBooks, Wave, etc.) don't support the Swiss QR-bill format at all. Spreadsheets weren't cutting it.
So I built the simplest version of what I wanted: send a clean QR-bill in under a minute, track who paid, export cleanly. Friends started using it, then their accountants asked about it, and we realized there was a real gap for solo operators and very small teams.
Where we are now
Bootstrapped, small team in Geneva
Growing steadily in the Swiss market
Trilingual (FR/DE/EN), which unlocks the German-speaking market (~3x bigger than the French-speaking one)
Working on a full accounting module next: double-entry, Swiss PME chart of accounts, Open Banking integration with Swiss banks (UBS, Raiffeisen, PostFinance via the NextGen API)
Stack
Next.js, TypeScript, tRPC, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Auth.js v5, Stripe. Self-hosted on K3s.
What I'd love feedback on
Positioning — does "Swiss-native invoicing for freelancers and SMEs" land clearly, or does it sound too niche?
Anyone here built for a small, language-fragmented market? How did you handle SEO across languages?
For the upcoming accounting module: any patterns you've seen work well for modular feature activation (especially in B2B SaaS)?

Swiss freelancers often get stuck between international tools that lack local compliance and enterprise software that is way too complex for a solo operator. It is a massive headache to manually generate those QR-bills while trying to keep track of VAT and late payments at the same time. Since you are expanding into the German-speaking market, are you planning to localize the SEO for each canton specifically or stick to a broader language-based approach?
