Issue Tracking For Teams On Slack
It's been a while since we posted an update. We've been quite busy with making some new feature updates, bug fixes and making some major overhauls.
The result is that users are more sticky and we are seeing very less churn. That's the good news for now.
Lot more work to do though :)
We have put in a lot of work into the UI/UX based on quite a few feedback from our existing users. Our platform with a brand new UI is now live.
At the same time, we have also had to increase our pricing. Earlier we had launched the alpha version with a promotional price of $1 per user. Now the new version has been priced at $3 per user. All our existing users who joined on the promotional price will continue to be billed at the same rate.
Will look forward to getting feedback on the new UI.
Thank you all!

We have been hard at work optimizing the UI/UX based on feedback from our existing users. We have been monitoring the behavior patterns of users to come up with this update. It took us a lot more time than expected, but we believe it is totally work it.
Planning to release it soon after all our testing. Maybe in a week or two. Adding this update here since it's been quite some time and wanted to make sure this is logged.
More soon.

We've finally hit $100 in MRR. This is a huge milestone for us and a validation of our efforts.
At this juncture though, we see a lot of users need more help with on-boarding and better UX after the sign up process. Many of the users who come onto the dashboard do not really see the tutorial videos, but just skip it and then are not sure how to proceed.
We have planned a major revamp of the UX based on the feedback of our existing users. More soon.

When looking into the analytics and client experience data, we realized that a lot of our customers don't really understand some of the features or how to go about setting up the account to fast track task management.
At the same time, we have some users who have got to use it for sometime and they seem to be coming back to the app almost everyday and loving the experience.
To make it easier for our users, we have added a few tutorial videos. The first one is a short demo on how Spaces and Lists work within the app:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfsky0Tzk4Y
Secondly, we have a video on how the workflow can be customized based on the organization here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoRVD_LTFn8
Lastly, we also have a video, that was shared earlier as well on how you can add tasks from Slack itself here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdioaX2yM9s
From Slack, there are 2 ways to add a task/issue to your team member.
- Use the slash commands
- Convert any message into a task from the messages "More Actions" (3 dots) towards the right of the message and select "Create Task". This will open a pop up box from where you can assign user, priority, status etc.
Hope this helps!

We now have a total of about 700 users on our platform. Most of them are on the free plan, but we are getting a ton of feedback from users and a lot of our free users are converting to paid plan after a week or two of usage. That's a big silver lining that we see right now that's a huge motivation to our team.
Also, as users spend time on the platform, the tendency to keep coming back is a big metric that we measure to check the stickiness of our customers. Of the current users, a few of them use it daily and a majority of them use it at least once every 2 days. That's something we are thrilled about.

Hey @maximg we started out by posting on all the start up forums and blogs. Since we are still in a very early phase, we were looking for users who could use it and give us feedback. That is why we have the pricing so low at this point. We also reached out to users on Twitter, but it was not very successful. We were also lucky to get some organic traffic through the Slack app store.

As of today, we have 5 paying customer accounts with an average of about 10 users per account. We believe that is a great validation of our product in such a short period of time.
In terms of customer acquisition, all our customers are coming directly from the Slack app store. These customers have started billing on their accounts without any interaction with our team. This is another positive sign that we see. Especially because in an earlier product of ours, no customer would enable billing unless they had several back-and-forth communication over email with us.
We also release a short video to demonstrate how easy it is to add tasks from Slack here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdioaX2yM9s

With so many teams going remote due to the sudden and unprecedented viral scare going around the world, we have seen a lot of new signups in the last few days. These are teams that are already working on Slack, so integrating TodoGator onto their workflow seems easy and simple.
Though most of our customers are on the free plan, we see that a lot of users signing up are actively using the platform to manage their team. We believe this is very much a positive sign at this stage of our product.
More updates coming soon.

We have just completed the MVP of our issue tracking tool and have uploaded online at https://www.todogator.com/. We have not officially launched on PH or HN, but before we do that, we wanted some feedback from prospective users.
This product was designed and developed for small/medium teams that are already on Slack. Most organizations don't really need very complex tools like Jira for logging simple tasks or issues. This is why we decided to scratch our own itch and develop this.
Look forward to feedback from the IH community.
Thanks.

We started working on TodoGator to build a simple issue, bug, task tracking tool that can be used by small / medium sized companies that do not really need complex tools like Jira or BaseCamp for project management.
