Tasklog App
Software for Freelancers
Well, that's not 100% true. You could pick the lifetime option before, but it was somehow hidden until you visited the actual purchase page.
The difference is that now it's presented directly on the home (landing) page together with the other two models - free & premium.
But Pete, It's a SaaS app! What about your MRR?
Yeah, yeah. I know. Two reasons:
- Personally I'm starting to hate the SaaS models and the inability to actually purchase something lately. Remember those days? I do.
- Despite being hidden before, the lifetime option is actually quite popular.
Let's see how that goes.

Awesome! I've been doing this with frequently.io and have found it to be beneficial. It also acts as a little marketing bump every month.
Let me know if you have any questions!
๐คฉ Starting today, Tomatoid is called ๐ง๐ฎ๐๐ธ๐น๐ผ๐ด ๐๐ฝ๐ฝ.
The focus and target audience have shifted dramatically over the past few years - and the original name became more and more disconnected from the webapp purpose.
Tasklog (formerly Tomatoid) started as personal project in late 2013 with no ambitions for monetization. Over time, I've added a bunch of new features and realized that it's actually a pretty solid solution for modern freelancers.

A lot has happened since introducing the Freemium model in mid 2017.
- Introduced the B2B version for teams & small companies
- Increased prices ๐ฐ
- Fine-tuned homepage with great visitor-to-trial ratio ๐๏ธ
- iOS & Android apps ๐ฑ
- Chrome extension
- Implemented notifications system
- Added basic gamification (still testing) ๐ฎ
- ProductHunt launch ๐
- Created Facebook page
- Deleted "company blog" and replaced it with one Twitter thread
Challenges and tasks for near future:
- Improve the freemium-to-paid funnel step, which is the most leaky one
- Create first serious ppc campaign which will bring at least 1000 new potential paying customers and study the data in depth

A lot has changed in the last few years. I went from junior developer to senior, team leader and eventually freelancer.
But one thing was constant - I was still using my app daily and adding new features when I needed them.
I've made probably the biggest update of Tomatoid ever, which included:
- Ability to manage Projects, Clients and Labels
- Timesheets with advanced filtering and pdf/csv/excel export capabilities
- Detailed statistics
- Dashboard with a quick overview of your recent work
- Dark mode
- Toggl & Trello sync
- Some other stuff
I made all these new features available for $5/month subscription.
Without these new fancy things, the app was still free for everyone.

As I grew as a programmer, I was continuously developing and adding new features into my little app.
Suddenly, I realized it's actually 3 products in one:
- Pomodoro timer
- Stopwatch timer
- Task manager
All integrated into each other.

My estimate, which was indeed super accurate as I was still junior developer, was it will take me about one month of night coding to make my own Pomodoro timer.
Surprise surprise, it took me almost 1 year (!) to publicly release the first version.
Compared to other timers, it was superb. Compared to other web apps, it sucked so much.

Nice! This might benefit my community, careermove.io.
I sent you a Twitter DM.
Nice, gives the early users a great benefit.
You can always add features and charge for those.
Would love to learn how it performs over time.
The whole idea of SaaS is to be compensated as you release more features.
I'm curious: How popular is it compared to your monthly plan?
