May 23, 2026 I built an AI assistant because I kept letting people down with the small stuff

Hey IH 👋

Posting this with the kind of nervous energy that comes from telling strangers about something you actually care about.

I built Tomo because I kept letting people down with the small stuff. Mum's birthday. The dentist appointment I'd booked two months earlier. Friends I genuinely cared about, slowly drifting because I never remembered to follow up.

I tried the productivity apps. All of them. Calendars I had to maintain. Todo lists that became guilt lists. Notification streams I learned to ignore. They all wanted me to do more work to keep track of my own life.

So I built the opposite — something that works the way I wanted: text it like a friend, and it remembers for you. It lives in Telegram because that's where I'm already texting all day. No app to install. No new habit to build. Just one less thing in the way.

What Tomo does today:

• Calendar + reminders via plain text ("move dentist to Thursday")

• Daily morning briefing — your schedule, weather, pending stuff

• Remembers the people and routines in your life so you never repeat yourself

• Voice messages — speak, don't type

Pricing: 7-day free trial, then $10/month for the first 300 Founding Members (locked at that price for 12 months).

Built solo. Next.js + Telegram Bot API + Postgres + the usual LLM stack.

It's early. The version of "it works" I care about most is that it's already changed how I handle my own life — I haven't missed a birthday in three months, which is a record for me.

Would genuinely love feedback from this crowd — especially on positioning. Does "lives in Telegram" land, or do people read it as "just another Telegram bot"?

I kept letting people down with the small stuff — mum's birthday, dentist appointments. Productivity apps made it worse. So I built Tomo: text it like a friend, and it remembers. Lives in Telegram, where I already am.
