Top Of Mind Podcast
A show about what it takes to be top of mind
I was feeling reflective so I wrote down the 30 lessons I've learned from publishing 30 episodes
Biggest lesson: The secret to content is not making it big – it’s about laying a foundation for bigger things in the future. It will take longer than your thought, but will lead to more than you could have imagined.
I'm still not paying attention to the analytics because the goal is not to have listeners, but to grow my network.
That being said, this episode stands out as one that people obviously enjoyed because it had twice as many downloads at the average episode.

At this point, my goal is not to have very many listeners. My goal is still to be learning and networking.
Using the same LinkedIn techniques, I was able to get QuHarrison Terry (100,000+ LI connections) to be a guest. This spurred into me being a guest on his live streams and a continued relationship.

At this point, I still wasn't sure where I was going to go with the show, but I knew I needed to start. My first guest I met through LinkedIn using a strategy I had been testing to get guests.
It felt really good to get something up after a few months of planning to launch.
You can hear that I'm still figuring out how I want to format the questions: https://pod.link/topofmind/episode/c3Vic3RhY2s6cG9zdDoyNzMyODQ=

I quickly threw together a teaser episode and uploaded it to Substack so that it could be distributed to all the podcasting platforms.
It takes a few days for the RSS feed to become active, so if you're looking to start a podcast I'd HIGHLY recommend putting a less than perfect teaser episode up ASAP so that that feed is ready when you have your first episode.

I had previously started a podcast called Business Of Circularity, where I spoke with founders of sustainable businesses.
In doing so, I realized the power of hosting a podcast could offer when trying to build a network.
Top Of Mind came to be because I wanted to grow my network and understanding of how marketing worked.
Before launching:
- Designed the cover art
- Uploaded a teaser to all podcasting platforms
- Interviewed 3 new people
- Set up a Substack account to publish the episodes
