Free delivery maturity assessment for IT consultancies

August 9, 2026 A commenter asked how prospects would read our free assessment - so 48 hours before our Product Hunt launch, we shipped Ask TIM

Update from launch week.

Our first comment here made a sharp point: when you compress a $20k consulting review into a free assessment, how prospects interpret the assessment becomes everything. And our launch post asked "would you pay $79?" - the honest answer was that templates alone might not be enough.

So today we shipped Ask TIM: every saved report now has an advisor panel where you ask follow-up questions and TIM answers with YOUR scores, YOUR ranked gaps and the toolkit in front of him. Not generic chatbot advice - in testing it quoted the report's real Test & Readiness score and cross-referenced the #1 weighted gap unprompted.

Free reports get one question a day. Founding access ($79 one-off) gets 25 a day, all 21 templates, and everything we add later.

Same trust rules as everything else: scores stay deterministic arithmetic, TIM never touches the numbers, every AI answer is labelled.

We launch on Product Hunt Tuesday. Sample report if you want to poke at it first: torinhq.com/sample-report - and if you ask TIM something and get a dud answer, I genuinely want to hear about it.

August 8, 2026 Launched this week: a free 15-minute delivery review for IT consultancies (they normally cost $20k+)

After years running delivery at IT consultancies, I kept watching small firms make the same expensive mistakes: quotes based on gut feel, scope quietly growing until the margin was gone, go-lives nobody rehearsed. A proper delivery review catches all of it - but consulting firms charge $20k-50k, so small firms never get one.

So I built Torin. It won't replace a $20k review, but it's a real step in that direction for a fraction of the cost: a free 15-minute assessment that scores how your firm actually runs projects and gives you the templates matched to your three biggest gaps, free.

Design rule I'm strict about: the scores are plain arithmetic - the AI writes the commentary but never touches the numbers, and every AI-written section is labelled.

The whole business is automated (assessment, report, email, payments) and I'm building it nights-and-weekends solo. Sample report, no email needed: https://torinhq.com/sample-report

It launched this week, so blunt feedback is the most valuable thing you could give me - what's confusing, what's missing, and whether you'd pay $79 to unlock the full toolkit.

Well put - that's exactly the tension I designed around. If prospects read this as "the $20k review, cheapened", it dies. If they read it as "the first hour of that review, done honestly", it earns trust. That's why the scoring is deterministic arithmetic and every AI-written section is labelled: the moment someone suspects theatre, the comparison to the real thing collapses. The open question your comment points at is what firms do AFTER the report - act on the gaps or file it. That's what I'm watching closest in the early data. Thanks for engaging with the mechanics rather than the surface.

The interesting signal here is the relationship between the free assessment and the $20k–50k service it is implicitly standing beside. You’ve compressed a traditionally high-touch offering into something radically more accessible, which makes the way prospects interpret the assessment itself unusually important.
