Transmits

Like I had mentioned in the last post, I am sharing updates about the building process—and everything else that I am doing to both build and grow Transmits—via my personal podcast, https://www.allplay.fm.

So far, that has been great, but as I was recording and publishing episodes—and more importantly while I was reading Rob Walling’s book - Start Small, Stay Small—I realized that although I was sharing updates via that podcast, those weren’t necessarily helping Transmits directly so I had an idea of how I could change that.

Since All Play is going to have episodes both focused on Transmits, and other stuff I am working on, I figured it could be interested to start packaging and publishing the Transmits-specific episodes under its own podcast. Here are some reasons why I think this makes sense:

• First and foremost, I wanted a way to start building up some content on the site to help start building update some SEO
• These initial episodes will help to start lay the foundation for the podcast, which I was already planning to use to interview people in the industry, as well as customers using Transmits, so these initial episodes might help to build up early subscribers
• And, in an effort to help start building some flywheels, I figured I could repurpose the effort already exerted for recording the All Play episodes and start the process of getting the Transmits content started.

Curious, what are others doing early on to help build awareness for their early products, while also feeding the machine some early content to get ahead of building some early PageRank’ing for their sites?

After thrashing around for a while, debating on which project idea I wanted to commit to, I have settled on bringing, Transmits, to life! Transmits is going to be an app that makes it easy to quickly capture audio recordings and either save or share those as you see fit.

Transmits is going to be a web-first app, embracing the power of progressive web apps and local-first development, so that it is always with you, and you can always review and reflect on the recordings you have captured.

In addition to a great capture experience, it can be equally important to make it easy to share those thoughts and ideas as wide as possible, so there will be integrations to easily share Transmits across other social networks, newsletters, and podcast platforms.
