Treblle
Mission Control For Your APIs
API Insights, launched recently, tackles API quality problems by enabling detailed review and analysis. With the addition of a CLI tool, it streamlines quality checks, integrates seamlessly into developer workflows, and promotes high-quality APIs with minimal impact on efficiency.
https://blog.treblle.com/revolutionizing-api-quality-api-insights-cli/
We launched it last Thursday and, to this day got around 400 downloads. That is enough to be second in the trending of the VS Code Market Place. π
If you have the opportunity to build an extension for your own product, we definitely recommend it - it's great exposure the one of the world's biggest dev communities.
According to the 2022 StackOverflow survey, VS Code is the most popular IDE used by developers. That is one of the reasons we wanted to make API Insights even more accessible to developers who use it to work on APIs. What do they get?
- A unique API quality score across three categories and 20 different tests directly within their coding environments
- A re-test notification as soon as there has been a change made to the Open API Specs
- They can easily compare how your API stacks up to other APIs within the industry they operate in

What you get with API Insights
- Get a unique API quality score across three categories and 30+ different tests directly within your coding environments
- Get a re-test notification as soon as there has been a change made to the Open API Specs
- Easily compare how your API stacks up to other APIs within your industry
Why use API insights
API Insights is a great free tool to keep your API in check while you are developing it or to simply check how your API compares to your competitors in the industry.
It keeps you aware of any changes you make so you never get lost even if there are distractions that might get your focus on the API Spec.
API Insights solves API governance and keeps you and your team aware of potential improvements across 3 categories:
API Quality
API Security
API Performance
Other tools might give you some surface data about how you are doing, and Insights gives you the actual answer and directs you to where you can do better.

It's a great feeling when you can make your community happy. We just delivered on a promise. We promised we will add a feature to our newly released tool swiftly.
After 2000 downloads in just 10 days after release we made this update based on overwhelmingly positive feedback.
Results? π π
π΅ We were in the top 5 apps on the Mac Store (in the free developer tools category) for 10 days, 2 of which we spent as the number 1οΈβ£ app.
π΅ We had 2.5K+ downloads of the app
π΅ Overwhelmingly positive reaction from all over the place
π΅ Got organically featured in various developer newsletter (didn't sponsor them, but we have tools that give us insights on brand mentions)
How did we achieve this? β πββοΈ
π₯ Figured out how to properly do a launch on Mac App Store (There are some tips and tricks we followed, and they actually worked)
β³ We amplified that launch with a Product Hunt Launch and written content
π We found communities frustrated with existing solutions
π Used our own contacts for organic distribution
π½ We steeped out of our comfort zone and did a funny launch video
π€ And last, but not least - the only paid part of it - influencers
TODAY? The update is out and about and available on the Mac app store. https://getaspen.io/
Here's what's new:
Fixed JSON Response Body Content Height: We've resolved an issue where collapsing parts of the JSON response didn't adjust the container's size accordingly. Now, the container shrinks with the content for a more streamlined view.
Added JSON Request Body: Introducing a rich text editor for your JSON requests. This new feature allows you to easily paste or write JSON, with support for smarter indents that preserve the indent of the previous line, and auto character pairing (e.g., entering { automatically adds }).
Added Indicator for Number of Headers: Keep track of your request headers with ease. The new indicator shows the number of headers you've added, making it simpler to manage them.
Fixed Bug with Incorrect Display of HTML Response: We've squashed a bug that caused HTML responses to display incorrectly, ensuring you get a clear and accurate view of your HTML response data.
We're constantly working to improve Aspen to make your API testing as smooth and efficient as possible. Try out these new features and let us know your thoughts! π
Imagine a world where harnessing the power of APIs is as easy as riding a bike - no fancy gears, just pedal and go! That's what we've heard from you about the current state of API clients: they're like overloaded backpacks, too heavy and complex. Well, at Treblle, we're cutting the weight and bringing back the joy of a simple ride!
The Problem: When Tools Become Mazes
But with great popularity comes great challenges. These once-simple tools began to resemble a maze, filled with extra twists and turns aimed more at making money than helping you reach your destination. Users started feeling like they were carrying a toolbox so heavy that they could hardly lift it.
We wanted to see if we can simplify those mazes, and as it turned out, we didnβt, we burned down the maze and made a simple, easy-to-understand road for a developer who is testing APIs to follow.
Why Aspen
Before we dive deeper into what Aspen can do, first, some background on the name.
A year ago, Vedran, founder and the main guy behind Aspen, decided to surprise his wife, Tea, with a dog. Yup, that's how this story startsπΎ Tea (our head of Apps) always wanted a Maltese, so Vedran got one, and he has been the office mascot ever since.
