Just launched TrendingList.com!
After a weekend of finding a domain and design, TrendingList is live!
I used Webflow to get started and doing research for trends manually for now. Three new trends are on the site.
Excited to get feedback on the type of trends and maybe other information to start including? Exciting companies in the space? Good domain names to get started? Interviews with founders in that space?

Hi, I started following you, the thing from my perspective trend is not a company, but still, it's interesting
Thanks for following along. Trends are super fascinating to me to help generate new ideas for existing companies or to start new projects. I'm looking to find companies in each space.
Nice website but what is the value I'm getting from your information?
To get ahead of emerging trends. I find that following these trends help me with marketing or new ideas for building side projects.
As a website visitor, the first thing that comes to mind when going to the website is "There are thousands of trends happening right now, why have these been selected?" Maybe you should add information about your background or qualifications and why the website is worth their time. Telling the reading your credentials might let you get away with no information. But even with credentials, you should still include how and why the terms are selected and how it benefits the reader.
For you to say that the word teachable or Printify is a trending keyword, doesn't have much value without knowing why you selected them out of all the other trends. It simply shows that Teachable and Printify are spending money on marketing.
Take a look at this trend comparison of the term Teachable versus Video Courses. Why is one going up and one going down?
Thank you Jeff! That was very helpful. I'll need to do some more thinking on this and see how I can better support these trends.
If you're already doing most of the work, you might as well go all the way and make the website sticky. It will also make your email list have some sort of value/segmented/targeted. Currently, even if a million people subscribed to your email list, there's no value in the list because it's not targeted in anyway other than people who are interested in trends, which is every human being.
You could do something simple like create the same type of categories/sections that newspapers use like Sports, Culture, Tech, Business, Arts, Celebrities, etc. And then select the top trending keywords for a given time period, for those categories.
If you have a strong interest in any specific topic, just add it as a main category which will then kind of add a theme to your site which will probably increase signup conversions for a specific audience. For example check out sites like Grizzle or Gossamer. The content is about finance or culture but with a cannabis side theme.
You could even drill down and create subtopics like
Sports [top people, top products, top teams] for the week of 11/1/2019
Technology [top people, startups, ipos, cybercrime, shutdowns]
Business [people, events, companies, lawsuits]
I like the idea of keeping it simple by just posting trends because good content is really fucking hard to create. But the trends that you post have to have some sort of value otherwise it doesn't make sense for anyone to return to the website. The success of a website is like any other business, it's a numbers game. The stickier the content, the lower your costs are and the higher your profits are.
And then segment your email lists so each name is associated with a category or subcategory.
This is just an example but you can get an idea of what would be a good approach by looking at what other successful websites are doing.
Major news websites all publish content that is the top trending stuff because that is what readers demand.
Maybe your website is the curated minimized or super summarized news topics of the day that just lists the main trending keywords and if something interests a reader, the click a link that takes them to the top google result for that keyword search or something.
And yes, this is obviously more work but it's the type of work that you can have a virtual assistant do for you after you iron out all the details. Will this type of thing make money? Who the hell knows but it would be an improvement over the current strategy. Good luck!
