March 14, 2021 50k€ Revenue and 30k Signups

What a ride so far. I can feel my time being stretched too thin so I finally started putting the revenue to good use and hired 2 freelancers to help me out on building out the foundation of T1 for future scale.

T1 was featured in multiple high profile articles and YouTube channels that gave way for lots of new users. We increased prices too (our first pricing change ever) and I personally am now focusing on building the company around the product so other people can take care of the product.
This will be hard. There's lots do to on all fronts.

January 17, 2021 1st Anniversary

After 1 year of daily hustle, T1 shows impressive numbers I did not expect or plan when starting this in January 2020.

We crossed all of these KPIs recently:

πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§ 10.000 total signups
πŸ‘₯ 6.000 MAU
πŸ€‘ 25.000€ total revenue
πŸ’° 2.500€ MRR
πŸ“Š 1 Million monthly page views

I'm currently focused on going from building a product to building a business. Lots of stuff happening and at the same time I feel like I'm acting way too slow. What a ride πŸš€. Thanks to everyone who supports and follows along πŸ‘.

Great to see your progress with T1, very inspirational!

Where do you see yourself in January 2022?

October 28, 2020 Tresor One just reached 10k€ revenue

Incredible milestone. We increased our lifetime deal and we are seeing a constant, organic stream of new users.

The lifetime deal is responsible for the revenue explosion while MRR is flat. I will get rid of the lifetime deal and introduce more pricing plans in the near future to make revenue more sustainable by growing MRR instead.

August 23, 2020 Niche SaaS breaks 1000€ payout for the first time

With Tresor One my B2C SaaS product targeted only at the German market of retail investors on stocks and ETFs has tripled payouts for the past 3 months breaking 1000€ this month.

My goal for the year to make 1€ and now we are crossing 700€ MRR. Lifetime deals (3 years worth of monthly sub) are what is moving the payout needle so high this month.

I'm absolutely amazed by the growth of Tresor One right now even though I'm not putting that much time in (I just got a baby girl). Gives me lots of motivation to continue pushing. If I can get MRR to 1000€ as a next step I believe I can also move it to 5k or 10k and be able to live off of it.

My learnings along the way
πŸ’° Charge - even though you think it will make current users run away
πŸ’ͺ Continue - there are ups and downs, slow and fast growth weeks - continue through and stuff is compounding
πŸ’¬ Talk to users every day
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» Go for manual stuff, but then invest in things that add value without you (Community, Team, Open Source, Crowdsourcing, etc). This will make growth itself grow πŸ”₯

I'll keep going!

Good stuff! Would love to hear more about this: Go for manual stuff, but then invest in things that add value without you (Community, Team, Open Source, Crowdsourcing, etc). This will make growth itself grow πŸ”₯ what’s been your most effective efforts there?

just did a video about this
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J09aAkeNSZg

Can't tell whats most effective yet as some of these efforts are quite recent but open-source surely was a great help.

Thanks and congrats on the baby!

      2. 2

enjoyed the vid - congrats on the baby! Bookmarked the channel for viewing later, because from what I can tell you:

        • Have just had a kid
        • Have a FT job
        • Have steady paid user growth
        • Have still had time to open-source parts
        • Are still keeping the social media going

...leaving me to conclude that you are some kind of wizard πŸ˜€

Good for you. Like the goal of making 1 euro - many people will never achieve that.

Thanks Christopher - 1€ is always the start

Congrats on the milestone and your baby! :)
Thanks for your honest and motivating post!

August 18, 2020 Launched T1 Community on Circle

I've gone back and forth on a community. Should I build it myself? Use a forum? Use Slack? How about a facebook group? I had an email feedback form to talk to users. Then switched to a livechat and was overwhelmed with 50+ contacts per day.

Now, Circle.so came along and it's exactly what I wanted and more. At will ultimately replace mailchimp, Crisp, ghost and some custom build stuff for me. I'm now using SSO to let my users login with their existing T1 account and move all contacts to this community.

community.tresor.one

I'm hoping to slowly create a community that helps each other, discusses stocks and the product and overall increase engagement and value for users.

July 27, 2020 I just reached 500€ MRR

Half a year ago I set the ambitious goal to build a software product that will generate the first € for me in 2020. I started coding January 1st, released in March with only a free tier, released a paid tier later and now hit the huge milestone of 500€ MRR 🀯.

Iβ€˜m shipping features every week and improve the product. Iβ€˜m trying to build sharing into it but itβ€˜s still a long way to go.

Iβ€˜m confident I can increase this to 1000€ within the next 3 months although I do have to focus more on customer acquisition as new signups are only about 100 per week (free tier) while I get about 5 new paid customers per week.

Yup, lots to do but itβ€˜s SO MUCH FUN and this is a milestone I would not have dreamed of 6 months ago.

Thanks to all users who provide feedback (I get dozens of mails per week) and to the IH community for providing so valuable insights, advice and motivation πŸ‘.

There's something significant about the 500 mark...suddenly seems like a lot is possible once you reach that tipping point. Like it's not just a side project anymore. Congrats!

July 1, 2020 115€ MRR and 1000 Sign Ups πŸ’₯

In June, T1 ticked off multiple milestones πŸŽ‰
We reached 1000 Sign Ups as well as over 100€ MRR. Feedback from users is still coming in strong.

We had big releases like different time-views and an installable PWA.

MAU growth is too slow so I need to put more effort/budget into user acquisition in one way or another.

Month-to-month comparison:

Basically non-existent. I had a launch posts in a few communities 2 months ago when T1 launched. I send out 1 email to the mailing list of current users (and people that signed up for the newsletter).
      That's it.

I want to send out these emails once a month and I'm now tinkering with Ads for the first time. Tried unsuccessfully on Reddit, will try again and add Facebook.

Any other ideas are highly welcome πŸ‘

May 25, 2020 40€ MRR πŸŽ‰

After months of working and validating, I finally have the first subscribers for Tresor One.

We are at about 800 registrations and quite the engaged userbase with hundreds of emails coming in so far. Fantastic!

January 20, 2020 The MVP

One thing I always failed at was to define an MVP, stick to it and then actually sending it out to users. I defined the MVP like this:

πŸ‘‰ I can create users
πŸ‘‰ users can log in
πŸ‘‰ User can create update and delete portfolio activities
πŸ‘‰ Users can import PDFs from German bank comdirect and activities are auto generated
πŸ‘‰ User sees words for unsupported PDFs
πŸ‘‰ Activity feed is loaded per user and displayed
πŸ‘‰ Dividend activity is displayed with a graph and gain fact
πŸ‘‰ Buy and import activity is aggregated to show current holdings in a table

Everything can be calculated from user input without any queries to financial data APIs. That’sa difficult thing so I wanted to postpone it out of the MVP.

I’ve finished the MVP today πŸΎπŸŽ‰ and it’s available at tresor.raum.sh

I’ve shared the planning of the MVP on YouTube (German πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ)
https://youtu.be/UPjoOBkN3wQ

I’ve invited 10 users as Alpha testers for the initial functionality

December 30, 2019 The Idea

I have thought about my next project for quite some time especially during the holidays 2019. As I’m doing some investing and personal finance improvements, a tracking tool for that with my desired visualizations and features was always missing. So my wife motivated me to start a portfolio tracking tool because
πŸ‘‰ I would be a ist myself
πŸ‘‰ It can be monetized
πŸ‘‰ It’s a lot of fun
πŸ‘‰ It serves also my YouTube channel as a good visualization tool
πŸ‘‰ It’s B2C and doesn’t require me to do active sales acquisition stuff

It’s called Tresor and I’m starting right now.

About

Im sharing my growth on a dividend portfolio on YouTube and wanted different ways to visualize my portfolio, including ways to share that with the audience or friends and a nice mobile view. So I started my own tool.
